Hi everybody...never done anything like this before so a bit nervous. Finally realized it would be nice to get a bit of support from people in a similar situation. I've been quite a heavy drinker for manyy years and tend to binge drink 3 or 4 nights a week. This is normally a bottle plus of wine at a time. I don't drive when I've had a drink and work isn't a problem. I just start earlier and finish earlier if I've got work the next day ! If I do manage not to drink for a week or so I don't get withdrawal symptoms but I always go back to it because I love it ! I'd love to be able to have just a couple of drinks once or twice a week but can never manage it. I've just ordered some Kudzu....does anyone think this will work ?

It's me again! I just posted to you on the other thread. I strongly recommend you read the book as there's no magic pill for this, honestly, it's an entire program. Your enthusiasm is great! Don't be nervous about posting, everyone is very nice here. :l

Thanks....I'll do what you say...I think I'm very independent and always sort things out myself.....and look where it's got me ! I had an eating disorder in my 20's so guess I have an addictive personality. This site is a revelation and I definitely feel ready to take advise and look at myself more closely.

Hmmm, I think you're going like the book! It's downloadable but you probably already know that! If you're sticking around, you'll need to get yourself an avatar.

Thanks akgirl....actually I drink a bit more than I said and felt ashamed to admit it..but everyone is so nice and supportive that I feel I can be honest. I actually feel excited today and a little emotional...today will be my day 1 without any wine and I'll see how it goes.

                        Hi Catwoman!
Welcome here! I read your post and thought I was reading mine. I am the same way with wine, and my pattern can be very much like yours. I, too, have a very addictive personality - OCD actually, but I do want you to know that I started Kudzu back in October and I was amazed. I hope it works for you, because it sure did something to the amount of my wine intake. Since then, I've been able to continually keep cutting back more and more...good luck with it.

Thanks to both of you...I think I need to come on here every day to keep me motivated. Goingmyway....that's weird I had definite OCD tendencies when I was younger but mainly controlled now...I guess my ultimate goal would be to drink wine sensibly, occasionally but have a funny feeling I may have to cut it out for good !

                            Cat -
OCD is controlled now, with the exception of general anxiety, but I really am curious if the Kudzu works for you - it's weird how it cuts the desire. I really don't have "cravings"; just once I have that first glass of wine, it's difficult for me to stop. With Kudzu I can have one glass, if I decide to have a glass, and I can actually stop there. So keep me posted - you may find something that works better and I would like your advice.
