    starting out today

Today is the day I hope to become AF. I have tried and failed a thousand times nobody has an idea just how much I drink in secret and I just want it too stop.I am stone cold sober today and just want to stay like this. Too scared and ashamed to go to AA so I just hope I can get the strength from here.

    Hi Anon and WELCOME!
There is great support structure on offer here.
Have you read the book My Way Out? I highly recommend it and it will help you formulate a plan on how to find your way out.
    Wishing you all the best

        thank you

I really feel I have made a giant step by putting my drinking in writing. Thank you so much for the replies they made me feel worth something!
I have just noticed it is a lovely, crisp, sunny English day so I will dwell on that instead of negative thoughts.
Will read the book when I work out how to download it.

          Anon,

It is difficult, but you can do it. Once the days start adding up you become clearer and have more resolve. Just try and relax, take good care of yourself, stay on MWO, and stay strong. Soon life we start to feel "normal" again. You will be able to do things you weren't doing due to AL. In fact, you will actually FEEL like doing things! Good luck. Gabby.

Great attitude Anon!! It is too easy to succumb (sp?) to our over whelming feelings especially when first going AF.
            Maybe a walk later?

Hang in there Heathy... you're on the right road:-)

I know how you feel anon.

This is my first post and I'd like to say it feels OK, but thats whats I'm supposed to say.

What I'd really like to say is that I'd like the answer to this - is having a drink like I used to, ever possible again? With friends or when I felt like it ? not every day and feel like I was making some big sacrifice by not drinking?

                        Nick,

This may not be what you want to hear but it's the truth as I see it. No. I don't think it will ever be possible for me to have a drink like I used to. Not ever. I'm not the same age as I used to be, my body chemistry isn't the same, my brain chemistry isn't the same and I have some history goin' on here.

                        Take care,
