Hi Everyone In Trouble Again
Hope everyone is well ... I was AF for pretty long periods of time since last summer or fall, but began binging this summer. Wound up in ER 3 times, fainting at work, hypertensive urgency, and falling in yard cause I had been drinking. I was SO good even after my difficult divorce in April ... but could not go to work in November and have very few off days available. I have to see a Primary Care Physician on Monday and am terrified! I drank some beer yesterday and am afraid she will want me to go to rehab, which I cannot afford or tolerate ... I have 2 teenagers to think about ... can I be forced into rehab? Can she advise me/force me to take unpaid leave of absence??? I'm not drinking again and can go without for pretty long periods of time AF ... Really need advice!!!Cuckoo for Cocoa Puff!!!Tags: None

Hi Everyone In Trouble Again
I don't think that anybody can force you to rehab.
I do hope that you are working on some kind of recovery program???? As you said, you have kids to think about.Look for a local support group (women for sobriety or AA...even a women's empowerment group). You need long term support.Alcohol is way to hard to try and handle it alone.sigpicEyes on the PRIZE, a SOBER Future !!!

Hi Everyone In Trouble Again
Hi Janka! It is so good to see you here, it has been a long time.....I have been thinking about you. I am so sorry to hear that you have been having a tough time of it. I remember when you were doing really well.
In answer to you question, no, a doctor cannot force you into any treatment, medical or otherwise, they can only prescribe treatment, it is up to you. Why not come back here? MWO worked for you before, it could definitely work for you again, if you work the program.
I hope to see you here again. Wishing only the very best for you.

Hi Everyone In Trouble Again
Hi Janka, I missed you. I've often wondered how you were doing.
So sorry to hear things haven't been going so well, lately.
It seems to me the anxiety is a major factor in your illness and drinking. How about using that angle with your doctor (you can then admit to drinking if you want, putting it into the context of your anxiety). Perhaps you can get some meds that help with your anxiety and thereby reduce your urge to drink (like Ativan). A good thing about that is you really cannot drink while on them. So it sort of kills two birds with one stone. The bad thing is that many meds are addictive, but if you are careful, and don't take them for more than a couple weeks at a time, or only on an as-needed basis, they are not addictive.
If you don't want to do allopathic meds, there is a ton of advice in the Holistic Healing forum on how to deal with anxiety using natural remedies-- herbs, vitamins, minerals, homeopathy, etc. If you want, I can give you more advice on that (just PM me).
I think many of us have been finding these days that coming here, and not leaving even when we start feeling pretty confident about getting our drinking under control, is an important piece of staying AF, through the good times and bad. At least, I am talking for myself.
Anyway, welcome back. Hope you'll stick around.Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life... And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

Hi Everyone In Trouble Again
I had read about an out patient rehab which i was thinking about. they would prescribe meds ,etc and it sounded it would be less upsetting to my life. I wish I could give you the name. I investigated it a bit a go and let it go but it is available. Maybe that is an option. Doing nothing may not be right,my friend? I am speaking to my self as well
