One day at a time - Monday

    Hi all ODAT'rs

It's been ages since I opened this thread. Well, the start of another week and for most of us a very busy one. Still have not the tree or decorations up, have to do the cleaning first!! Am having the windows cleaned tomorrow and plan to stay in all day and just clean and clean. :welcome: Meow, keep checking in and let us know how you are doing. Have you got the book yet? It's a good place to start. Once you start putting the programme in place, you feel better. The supplements etc. do help.

    Have a great week everyone.

    Hi there.

It has been suggested to me to join this thread.

5 days off the booze. Been struggling but today I am feeling great.

No christmas decorations here yet either.

In anycase, in plus 30 Degrees Celsius I never quite get into the christmas spirit.

    I NEED SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well hopefully next year I can afford a holiday somewhere colder (after saving 1 year's worth of drinking money. How is that for confidence. I'll open a thread than OYAT )
    AF since 15th March 2010

The journey is the goal. As long as you're fighting the good fight and you're not giving up on giving up, you're winning. It's not about how often you get knocked down, it's about how often you get up again. Sobriety the goal for sure. But striving to get to that goal is what it's about. Not getting there. Because the journey never ends. The journey is the goal.

      Good Morning all.

I don't often post here but I see we have some newbies, Johnny and Meow.

      :welcome:

This is a great place to start out and share.

Johnny, 5 days is awesome!!! Open a savings account, stick the money into it every week that you would have spent on drinking and you can spend next Christmas in a Winter Wonderland!!

      Glad to see all here.

Hi, RU and all to come.

      Love,

        ODATERS!!!!

Rustop, good to see you my friend! You're sounding good!

Johnny, Good for you on 5 days! I does get easier so hang in there.

Meow, good to see you and welcome!

        Hi Cindi!

I did the opposite with the decorating. I decorated (such that it is) first and am now in the midst of cleaning. I wallowed on the couch last night and watched two movies but mostly to admire my tree and stuff. I really only decorated one room. I need some presents under the tree though so everyone is welcome to contribute to that aspect :H

Have a productive day and be proud of your accomplishments, big and small.

Hey Johnny Welcome good to have you here!!! Good too see you too again Rusty!!! Hi Mad Mummy Horse WHOA!!!!! My sweet sea love ya> And Greenie about to put a prezzie under ya tree its rapped in sparkle silver paper a joke FROM YOU

Quasimodo, the hunchback bell-ringer of Notre Dame, was ready to retire. He put an ad in the newspaper for his replacement. Only one person responded, but he had no arms. Quasi said, “How are you going to ring the bell without arms?”
The man said, “Give me a chance. I can do this.” He walked back ten feet and ran toward the bell face-first.
To Quasi’s surprise, it rang. “I’m impressed,” he said, “but it’s not quite loud enough.”
The man said, “Let me try again.”
He stepped back twenty feet and again ran face-first into the bell, but this time he missed the bell and ran off the edge of the Notre Dame tower, falling to his death on the ground below. Just as that happened, a police officer was passing by. He looked up at Quasi and said, “Quasi, do you know who this guy is?”
Quasi replied, “I didn’t catch his name, but his face sure does ring a bell!”

Good morning all, great job on 5 days Johhny.

My Christmas tree is losing needles fast, I'm hoping we don't have a brown Christmas tree for Christmas Day, I suppose I could always by green spray paint. :H

I thought of another reason not to drink, watching my husband drink and get annoyed if anyone talks to him while he is watching TV and drinking his wine. It never really bothered me before, but it does now. Just have to ignore it, when I drank it was easier to do, but there is no way am I going back to that. I want my kids to have one parent that does not depend on AL.

Anyway pretty good weekend, had the bloody urges on Saturday, but managed to talk myself out of it, just had to remember how awful I felt and looked and how much better I feel and look now.

              Have a Happy AF Monday!

                Good Day ODATer's
Where has Dingy been? I miss her. I am doing ok. My back still hurts. I am going to the doctor this morning. I have to work tonight. I also have to get some more shopping done. It is Neverending. Had a very close call yesterday. My lovely daughter filled my produce drawer with beer and I was watching football. It was very tough, but I made it. Thank God. I will have to have a talk with her. I hope you all are well.

                        Greenie remember the bell ringer

                        Bell Ringer wanted

                        --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                        Bell Ringer wanted

                        Date: Mon, 15 Sep 1997 15:17:47 -0400

After Quasimodo's death, the bishop of the cathedral of Notre Dame sent word through the streets of Paris that a new bellringer was needed. The bishop decided that he would conduct the interviews personally and went up into the belfry to begin the screening process.

After observing several applicants demonstrate their skills, he decided to call it a day when a lone, armless man approached him and announced that he was there to apply for the bellringer job.

The bishop was incredulous. "You have no arm!" "No matter," said the man, "Observe!" He then began striking the bells with his face, producing a beautiful melody on the carillon. The bishop listened in astonishment, convinced he had finally found a suitable replacement for Quasimodo.

Suddenly, rushing forward to strike a bell, the armless man tripped, and plunged headlong out of the belfry window to his death in the street below. The stunned bishop rushed to his side. When he reached the street, a crowd had gathered around the fallen figure, drawn by the beautiful music they had heard only moments before. As they silently parted to let the bishop through, one of them asked, "Bishop, who was this man?" "I don't know his name," the bishop sadly replied, "but his face sure rings a bell."

                        (brace yourself, there's more...)

The following day, despite the sadness that weighed heavily on his heart due to the unfortunate death of the armless campanologist (now there's a trivia question), the bishop continued his interviews for the bellringer of Notre Dame. The first man to approach him said, "Your excellency, I am the brother of the poor, armless wretch that fell to his death from this very belfry yesterday. I pray that you honor his life by allowing me to replace him in this duty." The bishop agreed to give the man an audition, and as the armless man's brother stooped to pick up a mallet to strike the first bell, he groaned, clutched at his chest and died on the spot. Two monks, hearing the bishop's cries of grief at this second tragedy, rushed up the stairs to his side. "What has happened?" the first breathlessly asked, "Who is this man?" "I don't know his name," sighed the distraught bishop, "but he's a dead ringer for his brother."

Cap - you kill me! LOL

HI ODATERS! Welcome to the newbies on our thread.

Well it was a less than stellar weekend but I am back on track today. I'm really tired and really want to be able to take one of my sleeping pills tonight which I am unable to do if I have had any al. That makes it fairly easy for me to go AF today which is good. I find once I get one day under my belt the rest generally follow.

I hope everyone is having a good day - rainy and miserable here but what ya gonna do......

                          Take care all!
