    Second day on here

...I have ordered the Supplements and plan on attempting to moderate...first...if that fails...and I'm fairly sure it'll be VERY hard for me..then I'll have to quit completely. I have done several AF days at a time..usually when I have a bad cold or the Flu...feel tremendously better...then of course I slip back into my old "out in the garage for a few before dinner drinks" routine. That routine keeps the nagging wife/kids/dog at bay for me at the most chaotic time of the day...my biggest trigger! I need to find out how to change that scenario so my evening life works better for ME!:new:

Welcome! and you have a point, the triggers that can put us into drink mode are many and deceptive. I had to work up a whole new after work routine to keep my hand off the wine glass.. But you can do it, and it will be much better than you have ever imagined.
I did not go mod, I went cold turkey and quit, but to each his/her own. One of the biggest factors for me in being able to quit was the ability to get on here, anytime day or night, and find someone to chat with, posts to read and respond to, etc. Plus I have a very supportive wife, she was and continues to be the best reason I have for staying AF.
I also drink a lot of Cranberry juice and club soda, it gives me the substitute drink to hold in my hand and doesn't keep me from sleeping.
Make a plan to mod or quit. write it down. then follow it!
So, my advice in a nutshell: quit or mod, according to your own plan, and use this resource a LOT to help keep you on your plan.
PM me if you want to talk about your road.
    Stay Strong!

      Hi PJ
Welcome to our group, we are all in this boat together. And no one judges- were all just friends trying to help one another.
Triggers, stress, are all great reasons to pick up a drink, but when it takes over our life- and becomes more important than the things we love- its time to quit. I personally hit rock bottom, and knew I had to quit, otherwise I might loose my family. but I was like you a few years ago, (I was a closet drinker) when I realized I had a problem, but would not give up my VBF - the bottle- until I hit the bottom.
Many of us in this group admit that we will never be moderators. I cannot ever drink again, and I know it.
Good Luck and welcome, If you should decide to proceed through the journey of an AF life, stay close by to our site for the first weeks, as you will find tremendous support
      Good Luck
