    First Day

    Hello All,
I have been reading all of your wonderful advice for the past week and find them so helpful. Today is my first day on the supplements and no wine. I have a few questions and I wondered if some of you could help.
I have not started meds. Do you think they are mandatory or is the kudzu enough? Also, am I safe ordering them online and following the dosage schedule? For some reason I am fearful of going to my dr. with the request for them.
Do you find the meditation helpful? I keep falling asleep.
Any helpful hints would be most appreciated.
    Thanks

Welcome. I'm not able to answer all your questions, but just wanted to welcome you to this site. I'm sure there will be others to answer your questions. Congratulations on taking this first step to be AF.

DMB, welcome! As to medication: different opinions and experiences from different folks here (and that goes for your other question as well, of course!). I never did use any prescription medications, and many others here do not and have not... many others have used various of the medications, with quite a range of different results. Some say that River Pharmacy is just fine... others say that you can't trust them to provide quality products.

Not sure, when you are asking about meditation, if you are talking about the hypnotherapy recordings? If so... I think a lot of people find them helpful, even if they tend to fall asleep... I don't use the recordings, but I do practice meditation (which is a different thing), and some other folks here also find that meditation practice is helpful...

Anyhow... keep asking questions! Everyone here tends to use trial and error to find his or her own program for recovery. The MWO book is a good place to start out, and the "Tool Box" thread here on the forum is very helpful as well.... you can find it in the "Goals" > "Monthly Abstinence" section, right at the top of the list...

              First Day

              Welcome aboard everyone!
I don't use medication. My blood pressure is too low to use Topa. I can't use antabuse because I am a Nurse and have constant contact with alcohol prep pads. Can't use Campral because of digestive problems. I use the vitamins, supps, CD's, this forum, and Live Chat from time to time. I look forward to getting to know all of you. You will get lots of support here.

                    First Day

Hi doing. Welcome and welldone on taking this step.

I was quite afraid to go talk to my doctor to get prescription for Antabuse. After I went I must say that it was actually quite pleasant. It was a youngish doctor who was very understanding and a good listener. He was very encouraging.

So maybe look for the right doctor you can trust.

The journey is the goal. As long as you're fighting the good fight and you're not giving up on giving up, you're winning. It's not about how often you get knocked down, it's about how often you get up again. Sobriety the goal for sure. But striving to get to that goal is what it's about. Not getting there. Because the journey never ends. The journey is the goal.
