    ODAT Tuesday

    Happy Tuesday, ODATers!

Wow, everyone is adding up those AF days - that's just awesome! I'm only on day 4 but it's the first time for me, so it means something.

Savvy, I'm like you - doesn't matter, any emotion will be a good reason to drink. I never understood that. I'm not really convinced that I'm physically addicted - but perhaps the mental/emotional part is harder to battle? Dunno. Don't matter. I will make it to day 5 this time.

Anyways, enough chitter chatter, I need to get to work. Have a wonderful day/evening, wherever you are!

      ODAT Tuesday

      Morning ODATers,

I too got a bit more sleep last night New Day. But, I took 2 valerian last night, used the subliminal CD and when I got up this morning, I seemed to have lost my balance. It lasted a couple minutes too - very strange!!! Had to hang onto the walls and furniture for a bit!!

Savon - yes!!! Day 3 - new you could do it!!!! Day 6 for me and no AL cravings, even though I am not doing Topamax or Kudzu (or L-glut for that matter - just some supps). I do believe this is mostly a mindset for me, getting over my habits, not neccessarily all physical. Feeling just fine, only a bit tired.

I was a bit confused over the discussion of Topa and Antabuse between Aidanspapa and Jonnyh. Antabuse, if taken, makes you sick if you drink, but I don't think helps with cravings. As I understand it, taking this drug really takes the drinking choice out of your hands. Topamax doesn't make you sick when you drink, but helps with the cravings, allowing one to cut back alot on AL consumption, but does have some other side effects - brain fog, tingling, among other possible side effects that tend to go away. People do try to mod while taking Topa, which is what RJ did, me thinks.

I had an interesting time a few days ago unloading my dishwasher. Not one wineglass in there!!!! It was quite a revelation!!!

      Best get to work!
      have a great day everybody!

Yeah Sunshine ---- feels good doesn't it!
Peanut --- I had to laugh when you mentioned the dishwasher ---- mine is free of wine glasses too! I'm with you on the L-Glut and Kudzu .... tried them a few months ago, but not sure they really helped. I also think it's more a psychological addiction for me vs. a physical one. Still take my daily vitamins/calcium, etc. I have the L-Glut and Kudzu handy though, in case the cravings get out of hand.
Off to tennis practice ... will check in later. Have a great day/evening everyone!

I thought the same thing when I unloaded the dishwasher this a.m.

Everyday I have been on this site there is at least one (if not more) post that is exactly what I was doing or thinking myself-That is one of the things, knowing I am not the only one, that is so helpful to me

Good job everyone on your AF days:goodjob:

Hey - you guys are GOOD, drinking wine out of wineglasses. Too small for me!! Goodness - I'd be up & down too much with those little things! :H

I have a sort of Large wineglass (well, it has a stem & handle on it??) that I would use. Then again, prefer bourbon & coke, so... those glasses could be used for anything!!

But how about no more clinking bottles in the garbage? I have to walk my garbage out to a bin. It's a wonder the bags didn't break...

Seriously, you all seem to be doing Very well... and you're inspiring me.

Morning ODATer's, well it looks like another nice day here today, little bit of high cloud but I thinks its going to be hot again. Today is Day 35 AF for me,
Sunshine - well done on getting past your troublesome day, you know what they say - a tall mountains is deemed impossible to climb untill someone does, then before you know it, little old ladies are wandering up to the top to see what all the fuss was about - look foarward to hear that your on day 5 tomorrow.
Well come back Johnny, you sound like a different person from when you joined, you are so full of confidence now, its been nice to see that progression,
Aidenspapa, Ezzy is right, its about changing your routine, do something with your family, go to a movie, i read some an artical on one of the posts, that everytime you resist a craving/urge, you weaken the nural pathway of the addiction, some call it "riding the crave" LOL, but i find it helps to acknowledge that I am having a craving then think about the worst hangover i can remember, then conciously decide to not drink. good luck
Bridge - good on you for 3 weeks,
Savey - your new reward could be all those puppyy hugs & kisses, i would love to voluenter but if they had kittens I think i would end up bringing them home with me & i dont know how my 3 cats would cope LOL
Uni hope you feel better soon, colds that linger like that suck.
anyway boys & girls, best go get ready for work, will check in tonight when i get home
                good luck all.
                *Witchy*
                Progress, not perfection!!!
A craving wont kill me, but drinking could!!!

                    Hello All ODATers
Hope you feel better soon Uni. Everyone seems to be doing well. Happy to see. I am doing very well with staying AF (day 64) I am now preparing to quit smoking cigarettes, so I have been checking out some support sites for that, as well as getting support here. I started on Chantix yesterday. It makes me a bit nauseous, but I can tolerate it. I have to work tonight. I am not looking forward to it, but I desperately need the money. Have a Great day/eve all. Stay strong!!

Hey Sea --- you can do it! ..... arm yourself with plenty of chocolate! Being at work ... will that help? .... I think you'll be too busy to even think about cigs. Take time to eat something though. We're rooting for you!

                        ODAT Tuesday

Hi guys, one week today since I last had a drink, and it is the first week in a very very long time that I have woken up every morning not wondering what happened the night before. Makes me realize how AL had taken over my life like some kind of demon. I think that is what I'll think of it each time the temptation arises to have a drink. I am a bit worried when I am asked to go out for a Drink. So far I have said i can't make it that evening. How do you handle that situation without becoming a hermit?
Welcome Adrian, stick with it. At the moment I drink soda and ice, it looks like gin and tonic!

Thank you New Day!! Being at work definitely helps. I only smoke 2-3 in a 10 hour period.
Welcome ST, wish I could help you, but I am a hermit.lol. Someone will come along who maybe can help us both. Great job on a Week. That is wonderful!!!

                              Hi Strawberry!

Funny, but I don't have the problem of drinking out with friends. In fact, at our work Christmas party, I only had a soda and lime. Worried about drinking and driving maybe. But I have gone out several times with my group and just gotten AF beer (near beer) from the bar, or ordered soda and lime. Nobody seems to mind. Remember, it's your company they really want. I find I get tired earlier, but tend to just wait it out, as I also end up driving all those beer-swillers home too. I think they actually like me not drinking for this particular reason!!! (My real problem is drinking at home).

This being said, many people are just too tempted to go out to a bar, and maybe it is not a bad thing to become a bit of a hermit, just for a little while until you feel strong enough to do it and stay AF.

                                ODAT Tuesday

I have had a bit more of a struggle tonight, but so far have been able to handle it. I'm pre-cooking some ribs to throw in the oven tomorrow night, as I'll be out most of the day. Next I'm about to start preparing some beef stroganoff for another night. Because of all the cooking, I'd really love to have a nice glass of red wine ... however, I know it wouldn't stop at one glass. So, I'm here gathering strength to fight off the urge.
I have my AF drinks at the ready, and a pile of fresh grapes. I read somewhere here that they really help.

Well, back to cooking, and I'll check in later for more strength gathering. Just coming here to confide in my desire helps.

After a fantastic Jr. World Hockey game last night (Canada won the gold for the 5th year in a row .... yeah!) .... it's back to watching the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight!

Have a good evening, those of you still around!
