    Newbies Nest

[QUOTE=lolab;1381650] I still had a really hard time feeling like I fit in at events like this - and often missed my "crutch". I don't really socialize all that much, so it's not like I have alot of practice - but I'm getting there! :H
    QUOTE]

Keep it up and soon you will feel so comfortable. I get more invites sober because I am remembered as interesting since I don't gabble drunken bullshit. People may not remember the details but they sure remember the atmosphere you bring

        Good evening Nesters,

Had some heavy rain here a while ago, a bit of thunder & lightning too - geez, wasn't expecting all that!

PF, keep working on the gratitude & don't forget to check out this website for some great reading:

Lola, not everyone was meant to be a social butterfly. I am happier talking to my chickens these days :H
I am learning to not worry ahead of time about stuff like that

Hi there kuya, Quest, Allan, Byrdie & everyone!
Wishing everyone a comfy & safe night in the nest

Morning all - hope we are all well xxx

Woke up this morning nice and fresh - yay !!!! Love this feeling !!! Then I remembered - sons rugby today - with socialising in the club house afterwards - yikes !!! This will be a test ! Sundays aren't good for me anyway - in fact I hate them :-( rugby, washing, ironing, homework ,cleaning up , etc etc.

By tea time usually I am on my 3rd drink. So I'm going to struggle like mad !!! I think I'll leave rugby early - get back and do my chores - try and stay calm - but I think I'll nip to the shops and get myself something nice for tea and a bath bomb for tonight !!! Thinking a bit of pampering - de fuzz and a nice book ?
I've got a clear head, took my kudzu and am ready to make a plan and start journaling !!!

The sun is shining and I feel quite positive - asking for your prayers and support on day 2 of my battle !!!

I so want to succeed !!! Even told hubby about the supps and me going AF - he SEEMED quite supportive - until Friday maybe but I can't think that far ahead yet.

I've just got to get through today and get into bed sober - that is my challenge for today !!!

I will keep checking in today - take care nesters xxxx

            Morning all,

Pleased to say i got through day 6 - which I wasn't looking forward to as it was a Saturday ... and even if i had no plans to go out, my flatmates had ideas of having people back here until 2.30am. Previously, my POA would have been to down at least a bottle of wine so as I might not hear them. But I got through, and it wasn't so bad, really (tho a little extra sound insulation between the paper thin walls would alleviate the burr of people's voices vibrating through).

PR - that could well be my downfall! I know of and love small local grocery and deli's stores that seem to have the best selection of wines and local Scottish beer. I used to buy it to drink, and to think that I was some kind of connoisseur of local lager... then follow it with a few cans bog-standard beer from the supermarket. Or invest in a good bottle of the deli's red, relish the first glass, then down the rest to get tipsy.

Hope you talked your way oot of it, and had a lovely evening!

            Off for a long run....

I am about 14 weeks out and yesterday the AL seducer voice was trying very hard to convince me how much I would like a cuba libre while I read on the beach... this is not going to be as easy as I thought. My younger brother was just diagnosed with diabetes type 2 this week, and it was the fear of needles this time that was able to keep me from popping down to the local bodega...

Nice to see you in the nest, lagataloca. Congratulations on 14 weeks - that's fantastic!

I'll tell you that i'm coming up on 1 year and I still have my moments! But one thing I've learned is that even though you get surprised by those old feelings of longing for a drink - they don't last forever. I got really discouraged when I had those drinking thoughts resurface - thinking that I was destined to fail - but after riding them out a couple of times, I realized that they do go away. They DO resurface from time to time - and the going seems tough - but it doesn't last forever. :-) It's not like you're forever going to be having to fight that hard. You've had moments in the past 14 weeks, when it's been easier, and you're sure to have moments in the future when it's easier.

My bet is that soon you'll be surprised after a day at the beach - when you look back and realize that you didn't long for a drink at all....:-)

Then did the shopping and have just sat down with a cup of tea but OMG do I want a drink !!!!! I had a kudzu this morning - do u think it would be ok to have another ? Any possible side effects ?

Gosh, Quest, I don't know anything about suppliments, I'm sorry. And I see that I am a few hours after your note. But I am hoping that you rode it out...each and every time you do, you get stronger in that place you just flexed. All you need to do is go over to the thread ~ 'Coming back with my tail between my legs' to see what the aftermath of blowing your quit feels like. It's really not worth it. It's a guilt trip from the time you pour it, until the time you pass out. There is nothing fun about drinking any more. I hope you are able to report back in and say that you held firm.

Laga, so good to see you!!! 14 weeks, gosh!!! I'm so happy for you. There are still pangs every now and again, but they are fewer and further apart. Just like Lola said, pretty soon, you'll have spent the day on the beach not having given it another thought...Well done! Isn't that goal here.....indifference to AL!! (I'm still angry at it, but whatever works for you..)

Be grateful for this sober day....and for all you have in this world....there are so many who would gladly trade places with us, warts and all. Dig your heels in and take back what is yours. Don't give in no matter what and no matter who. Passing around the butt velcro. Byrdie

Spent hours shopping for then cooking food, got nothing much else done but that's OK.

Laga, hang in there! You are doing great with 14 weeks AF!
Sorry about your brother's Dx but it is a good learning tool for you. Healthy eating & avoiding AL is a must for both of you now

                          Hi Lola & Byrdie.
Quest, I hope your cuppa did the trick for you tonight

Wishing everyone a safe & cozy night in the nest. Perfect sleeping weather has finally arrived - yay!

Cooking here too! Request for homemade bread bowls filled with Mexican chicken corn chowder... So that and a loaf of sandwich bread for this week's lunches kept me pretty busy and out of trouble today. :-)

Watching Emmys and relaxing now. See ya tomorrow!

                              Beautiful morning here in Lav-land
This is my favorite time of year so I am grateful to enjoy these hangover free mornings!

I'm thinking about tossing together a couple of vegan pizzas for your anniversary party this week

I'm off to get my dose of Curves then back here for some work related stuff then eventually some outside time. Wishing everyone a terrific AF Monday!

                                good morning!

I was thinking last night...when I first quit, the thought of spending a night at home - an entire day and night - without drinking - seemed like a nearly impossible task. (I was going to put unsurmountable - but is it unsurmountable? or insurmountable? I couldn't figure it out and a quick look on the internet didn't answer.) Anyway. I didn't think I could do it.
