I am scared too. I have tried many times and lasted a maximum of two months but then sterted to find completely sober boring. I am now going to try the Sinclair Method so I'll keep you posted.

Hi Stamp,
I thought I would be bored out of my mind sober too, but it turns out that the kind of "excitement" I was getting from drinking wasn't so exciting after all...in fact it was flat out dangerous. Life is so much better with alcohol. Please keep us posted on your progress ok?

[QUOTE=K9Lover;1449052]Happy Wednesday Nesters!
ODAT - I agree with Lav...as long as you're focused on alcohol, or anything positive about it, you'll probably never get past the struggle. My life changed when my thinking went from "I can't drink anymore" to "I don't have to drink anymore!"
Hi, K9
I have appreciated all of your posts that I've been reading. Your attitude is inspiring!
I am trying so hard to make that switch in my thinking and see alcohol as a poison. Any tips on how that mental switch is made??
Thank you again for the support you offer on these boards.
(I thought I understood how to do these quotes but apparently I don't -- sorry!).

Hi NoSugar!
I should try that....having no sugar. LOL
The "switch" happens when you see alcohol for what it really, truly is. Look at what it really does to you, not the romantic "sitting by the fireplace laughing with friends" version, but the 'drunk-stumbling-falling-blacking out-saying things we dont remember' version. Or in my case, the DUI/handcuffs/cellmate named Diablo version!
I can't even tell you how much happier I am sober. Some people might think "yeah, right"...but it really is true. My self-esteem improved along with many other things...not overnight...but eventually. I was depressed because I was drinking and drinking because I was depressed. That's a no-win situation...you just have to kick alcohol to the curb so that you can start to heal. It CAN be done. And yes, it gets easier...if it didn't, you wouldn't see many success stories.
Please stick close...we can help you!

I am just really finding joy in doing things sober. Maybe because it got so bad for me. Sure, there are (were) still many fun times. But the few awful times with hubby fighting overtook the good times. In fact, I never have fun with hubby anymore drinking. Just fun with the neighbors and friends.I will be sober so I can be clear and remember being a mommy and so I can be in the best place God wants to place me. I will be here! now! FREE! 12.5mg Topamax AM&PM, Ativan until safe from withdrawal syndrome & for anxiety. Thank God I Am Done!

REALLY busy here. I really don't have a chance to read posts. Just popping in to say a big THANK YOU to everyone here. This is my busy time of the year, 12 hr days at work, 6 days a week. When I leave I am pooped and my first thought is " a good stiff drink will hit the spot" and then I remember that I can't . 1) because of the Antabuse 2) because I don't want to have "day 1" on the roll call. and I don't want to have to re-rack up all these days.
Thanks everyone.
