I am so dispirited. I had been moderating quite well with the alcohol I use to allow myself to sleep--six drinks over about five weeks. On Wednesday, I had a medical treatment for a fall (non-alcohol related) that happened in January. My use of alcohol for pain/relief sleep predates this fall by several months. In any event, the physical rehab on Wednesday stirred up my nerve pain to the point that today I buckled and had 3.5- 4.0 drinks. I have been sleepless since then despite taking the NSAIDs that have long been prescribed for me. Drinking this much was not my plan. Maybe if I had toughed it out for one more day, I could have avoided this. So sad.

Morning all and welcome to a bright sunny (but cold) Sunday AF morning.
Halo - a book thread would be great - I'm always searching Amazon for my next Kindle download! I'm reading jodie Picoult Lone Wolf at the moment (a bit difficult to get into so far!)
Kreeves - hope your meal went OK and the temptation stayed at bay. You can take up a new hobby - drunk watching! I've found this quite fascinating when we've been out - noticing how other people get slowly and steadily inebriated and start to make fools of themselves! At a recent work week long trade event there was one lady who got really drunk every night and everyone was laughing with her in the bar each night. However, everyone was talking about her behind her back during the day, saying they thought she had a drink problem and sniping about her behaviour. I cringe - because I know that on many previous occasions this was probably me they were talking about. I felt almost like reaching out to her - but it's a bit different in real life to the anonymity of MWO - but it feels so good to be on the other side of the fence at last.
Nursie - I've never heard of Tulsi tea - what does it taste like? I love Earl Grey and drink it all the time.
Persimmon - sorry you are in so much pain. I can't advise on moderating as that isn't an option for me, but be careful drinking when taking strong pain killers.
Well - having spent all day yesterday planting 'grass seed' I discovered that it wasn't actually 'grass seed' but some all singing and dancing weed, feed and fertilising compound (which cost a fortune) and contains not one single little seed!! So today - i start again - and yes this time I have checked that it is actually grass SEED in the packet!! :HNever put off to tomorrow what you can achieve today!

Good morning Abbers!
Cool but sunny here this morning
persimmon, using AL for pain relief is just never a good choice, not for anyone. I say this after a long career in nursing & experience with pain management.
The better choice would be an appointment with a pain specialist, neurologist, etc.
I am sorry you are dealing with long standing physical discomfort - leads into emotional discomfort. I hope you can speak with your doc about the pain & sleep issues. Ask about the possibility of going on Cymbalta which could be very helpful to you.
Snap, I feed my chickens a good quality commercial feed but they love leftovers from my kitchen too. Vegetable peelings & whatnot from salads, etc. You have to be careful about giving them too much though. The feed provides the nutrients they need to ensure good egg production so you want that to be their main source of food. My girls do like a little leftover garlic bread though :H
Wishing everyone a nice AF Sunday!

Hi, everyone, well it's been 14 days for me now,LM doing okay l've had a few moments of urghhh!!! But they pass, l assume in time it will get better, my husband is great support, l just started listen I g to Anthony Robins, he's very motivational,l feel for you when you drink caused l would like to but know l would fall in. Love hate with it and have all kinds of guilt , so l will stay away no matter how difficult, mainly its a thought and a thought can be changed so I stead of dwelling on the thought of alcohol try thinking of something else, don't let the Devil win, anyway l have a funny story, yesterday my husband and l went to the grocery store to buy fake wine, well there not cheap, so l loaded up on 8 bottles, 7.50 a bottle,LM in Canada, anyway, when l got home made dinner and cracked open this wine dealcoholized, well it does not cut it, l was a bit dissapointed, but also relieved, now l can bring it back and not have that thought again,l was kind of bummed, anyway well l was being upset ,sitting talking with my husband, l started to laughing at how foolish l was to buy all that wine, non wine, well its a story and it tastes like Pru be juice to me,a lot more expensive, so lesson learned stay away from that, plus the real reason todrink was the buzz, for me anyway, l do love that now my heads clear every mornining, have a great weekend do know this may be hard ,but the alternative could be a lot worse, just think of the calories were saving, have a great Sunday, thanks for listening!!

Thanks to all for your encouragement. That damn party is over and I am so grateful. That's the closest I've come to a screw up. I hate to admit this but I actually had a glass of wine in my hand thinking - I'll just drink this one and that will be it - I ended up pouring it out and I am so thankful this morning that I didn't drink it. Snap - you are right - I need to take up "drunk watching". it's time for me to move over to the spectator side and maybe lend a hand to others when I can.
Great bunch of people are gathered at this site. Have a great AF Sunday!

bcp, I call non-wine poopy. It tastes awful, like syrup! AND, like you, without the AL what's the point!! Even as low as my standards were, no octane wine stunk!! It goes back to the chicken and the egg thing.....THE PROBLEM IS THE ALCOHOL!
Speaking of chickens, I have chicken envy!! I want one!
Persimmon, I'm sorry you are in such pain. If you are trying to moderate, I'm afraid the Newbie's Nest might not be the best support for you....the goal here is to help folks learn to live without it...to help get on their way with AF living. We may not be the support you are looking for if you are trying to control it. That is something that most of us here find we cannot do. I didn't want you to think that we weren't reading your posts and didn't care. It's just that we don't know how to respond to what you are needing. I hope you find some help to relieve your pain that isn't AL related. AL hasn't done any of us any favors....(and never will).
Kreeves, hope you did well at your dinner party!
Pinecone, it's always so good to see you...and Star, and Lav and the girls!! Have a wonderful Sober Sunday everyone! If you are just starting out today remember we have ALL been where you are. This is do-able! Make it a great day!! Byrdie

Wow, very cool, Fin! Observation: the guys playing the really high notes play 3 to 4 times as many notes as the guys playing the low registers. The high note guys are working like dogs while the others are humming along. Ahh, such is life I suppose! It was a beautiful piece! Love it! Byrdie
