    Persimmon~
I can relate to your pain. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Recently I went to a foot specialist for an assessment. I walked out of his office just fine, but an hour later I could barely walk. For the next week pains all over my body started flaring up.
Back in my drinking days, I used alcohol for pain relief. It temporarily took it away, but the after effects were not worth it. About 5-6 months ago I was in so much pain that I noticed my brain thinking back to how I used to self-medicate. That's a dangerous place to go. I have been finding alternative methods recently that seem to help... like yoga, meditation, EFT, and not getting so stressed when the pain does show up.... kind of like leaning into a wave & letting it wash over you, if that makes sense. There are other alternatives to pain relief... alcohol is the easy way out. Find healthy ways to manage your pain.

perisimmon - it stinks that you are in pain. The good news is, you are back with us!
kreeves: I am deeply impressed! I hope you don't plan to do that again for a while. You need some more sober time under your belt. The good news, this will be a fantastic sober reference for you. If you can host a dinner party sober, you can do anything sober!!!!

HIDEHI nesters....... A very settled nest we have ATM.

Hi to you Kreeves and BCP and welcome to the nest.

I have just recovered from having a friend staying for a week, that I haven't seen in 13 years. She and her SO were very heavy drinkers yet I am glad to report that I did not have one single drinking thought.
However I was only 3 weeks into my smoking quit and the prescence of these heavy smokers was too much for my nicotine addiction.

My point is that getting strong in our sobriety takes time..........

Thanks, Jenneich, Fallen Angel, Kreeves et al. Your encouragement means a lot to me.

I did a little better today and had just one small drink and it did help a bit. I so wish that my neurologist would come back from vacation. He can't make me nonallergic to opioids but this really has to stop. I've been meditating an hour twice each day just to relax against the pain. Tomorrow I have an appointment with my physical medicine specialist. I'm hoping against hope that he can help!

My love to all of you.

                Fallen Angel--

I think for me the problem is not the fallout from drinking. I've never had a memory lapse and I've only had one hangover, if that's even the right word for it. About 35 years ago, I drank 1/2 glass of beer and ended up with the most excruciating and immediate headache. I swore off beer at that moment, thinking that I was allergic to it. I am only concerned that unless I moderate really well that wine will stop helping me with physical pain and that really scares me.

Tax day for us here in the U.S., also this day in 1865 Abraham Lincoln died of his gunshot wound....you know now that I'm thinking about history, seems like the Titanic sunk April 15th, 1912 ........YIKES!! See how lucky we are to be in the here and now??? Sorry about the morbid history lesson! Let's all go out and make it a great, AF Monday!! Hope everyone had a safe, sober weekend! Byrdie

Would you have a few words for us about how you did it? (and made it look so easy??) We are all so proud of you! Well done! Byrdie

Pretty Tulips, congratulations!! 30 Days is a major accomplishment. Keep it up and whatever you do, don't let your gaurd down after 30.

I have on two occasions thinking I had regained control only to fail miserrably at the "moderation" game. You can bet that when I hit 30 days in two weeks I'm going to be especially vigilant this time around against the temptations that seem to always want to make their way back into a healthy and successful quit.

Very well done and all the best,
