    Newbies Nest

    Hiya everyone!

Great to see you Freefly, and a warm welcome to you Mkiser. If these folks will welcome and embrace a big meathead like me here with such support and love, then you've got no worries finding a strip of butt Velcro, which I am now passing TO THE RIGHT! hehe.

Tess, I like your words....demons run from a sincere heart....nice.

    Take care y'all.

Day 10! and the feelings goooood. Yo!

    xpost. Hi Lav!

      Hiya Guitarista,

We are particularly fond of meatheads!! :guitar1:

Hey! We can never have too much butt Velcro, whether it be passed to the right or left. We need to stay close to The Nest and the support (and laughs) that we offer up. No service charge!!

I wish for each and every one of you a safe and peaceful goodnight. And -- for those of you who live afar, and are just waking up -- a pleasant good day. YOU are loved!! :chick: Life is good in The Nest. ~

          New Name

          Hi Nesters,

You might think i'm weird but i've changed my user name again! I was 'Brandivino', but as the AF days ticked by i became annoyed as the name was a constant reminder of where my 'romance' with alcohol began. So i changed my user name to Mineralwater......But still it didn't feel right. I feel a bit silly about re-changing my user name, but on reflection i've realised it's because this is so damned important to me - i'm a new person and hellbent (after many attempts in the past) to stay 'on the wagon.' 'STEADFAST' works for me.

Have just finished reading a book called 'High Sobriety' by Jill Stark. It could not have come at a better time. The author works for a newspaper in Melbourne, Australia. She was the health reporter for the paper, while being heavily into alcohol. In the book she charts the year she spent sober, and also provides lots of info and stats about alc abuse. Although i was disappointed that she didn't remain AF after the year was up, it appeared she was on track to take the moderate path. It's been a really good read and has confirmed for me that i do have a problem, and should remain AF.

Well that's long enough a post! It's Day 24 for me today!

          best wishes to all,
          Steady

Hadit, i've found the socialising (where alc's involved) tricky, but have been pleased to remember everything that went on; good memories and no regrets! And no hangover; bliss!

KUYA, so your name's an acronym, LOL! :H I love it!

                        Morning Nesters,

Just wanted to drop in for a minute and say Happy Hump Day.

Well I have been blessed with another day, so let the fighting (against the demon AL) begin. Who is with me?????

It does seem that the fight does get easier, but then there are times, when the thought creeps in "maybe I can have A drink", for me that is a lie straight from Hell. One is too many and as long as I realize that I will be ok.

Good Day to everyone, off to roll call.

                          Hi

I hope its okay to jump in on this thread. I continually find myself starting over...trying to be a better person. I've been to a few AA meetings and know that I should stick with that as well. I feel that I made a big step yesterday admitting my AL problem to people that I care about. I'm on day 2 with a heavy heart and truly want to beat it this time. I see where people post about the toolbox. Could someone tell me where to find it? Thanks!!
                          Hope :h

                              Welcome Hopeful mom,

Yes it is very ok to just jump in. We are glad you found us. Admitting we have a problem is the first step to recovery. This site is full of useful, encouraging, and loving support.

Hope you stick around. Good job on 2 days.

I will try to put the toolbox thread in this msg, not really sure how. If it doesn't work someone will be along shortly that know how.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress, or if you need to vent.

Welcome HM...... Don't have a heavy heart, this is the best thing you have ever done for yourself. Admitting it is 90% of the problem solved, then there is 9.9 % trust when we tell you how good it gets and 0.1% physical addiction. I say that because within the week all the alcohol is gone and the only thing to wait for is the healing.

Be happy, day one is THE hardest, and that is now behind you
