    GWAWKY MAE!

A fun day of playing football but now every muscle in my body hurts. Even muscles where I didn't know I had muscles! :H (ow, hurts to laugh!) After football we went out to a nice dinner. They brew their own beer at this place, but lucky for me they had a non-alcoholic beer in a bottle. A brand I never heard of, but hey, it was NA, and not that bad actually. No one questioned my order and they had to have heard me ask the waiter. Yay! A lot of their food was cooked with beer too, but my wife assured me all the alcohol burns off in cooking. Hmmm... I didn't chance it and ordered the steak. Yummy!

Tomorrow I'm decorating the house for Christmas if I can get out of bed. :H (ow!)

      MAE Nesters

My head feels a bit cottonwoolish - the wind must have blown my bedroom window shut, and no fresh air came in.

Anyway, coffee is made. I really and truly hope there's nothing left over of the leftovers.:H:H:H

      Have a lovely AF Sunday!
14 October 2013 was the first day of the best days of my life!

        New Here Again

I want this so bad for myself and children. The hardest part is when I walk in my front door and go straight to the fridge. If I could just ALWAYS make a glass of ice cold water Instead of getting a beer, I think I could be happy. My kids notice when I don't drink and when I do. I want them to see me as a person that doesn't need alcohol to have FUN! I mean they do it as children everyday. Why does it have to be so hard for me?? Anyway, hello all and what does MAE stand for?

          Good morning Nesters,

Greetings from an icy cold east coast today

          Hello & welcome aclassicgirl!
Breaking the habitual/emotional habit of reaching for the beer instead of the water is difficult but can be done, lots of us have taken that first step & you can as well
I had come to the point of truly wanting to quit more than I wanted to continue drinking. Change up you normal routine, get rid of the beer in the fridge, show yourself & your kids that you want to take back control of your life! Go take a look in the Tool box for lots of great ideas to help you make your plan.
MAE is a short greeting for Morning, Afternoon, Evening - we all live in different time zones!

Wishing everyone a wonderful AF Sunday!

Thank you. I don't know many non-drinkers. Right now only my mother-in-law is coming to mind. My husband drinks so will have to look past the beer. I know it's possible. It's got to be. Really tired of the whole thing. I've tried Topa. Helped for about three months then my hair started falling out. Yikes! Got to the point where I was drinking like before so stopped taking it. Glad my hair is staying on my head now! Maybe some old school Antabuse to help me along. Willing to try anything!! Anyone much on going to AA? The thought is scary. Sitting there looking at folks and them staring back at me. Would be weird. Also not to hip on drudging through my past. Been there. Done that. But maybe a decent place to meet sober people?

Where is the Tool Box? I haven't seen that thread. Thought I scrolled through everything. Thanks, again.

Thanks for the link. Good stuff in there and things to look forward to. Member since 2008. Sounds ridiculous, you'd think I'd be sober by now. But nope! Soooo ready for it though...
Is that you in the picture Samstone? Awesome. I wish we all would/could shout from the roof tops who we were. I hate that the web has to have creep-o people on it. And dare someone from my life actually find out I'm an alcoholic by me posting my name... I wonder how many folks have actually figured that out on their own...they're just out there waiting for me to admit it.

Have a good one. I'll be back ASAP. Going to church and then no beer at Sunday lunch. I'll be happy to come back and share that all with you. And I will get ice cold water when I walk in the door this afternoon. I'll be happy to report that, as well.

Thank you for reading my mess!!!

DTD, I'm so glad you've run out of leftovers! Sure the Turkey pancakes and Turkey waffles were fun at first, but now!! YIKES! Ehehehe....

Welcome back, AClassic! If you are like me, we really aren't keeping the secret that we are Alkies very secret. That's another myth in our minds. I'm sure everyone who spent any amount of time with me realized that I was (am). Also, now that I have some distance from AL, I don't care as much what other people think. I believe that's part of the thinking that goes along with ALK'ism. Paranoia about keeping it secret. As long as I'm sober, nobody can say anything about my AL consumption! Also, I have seen MANY people benefit from AA, so don't rule that out. WHATEVER will help you defeat this opponent is fair game. As you can see if you've been a member since 2008, it is an opponent the likes of which I've never encountered before. Do whatever it takes to get sober and STAY sober!! You will not regret it. Right now, it's a matter of self-preservation, so make the changes and takes the steps to get AL out! There is just no living with it for us anymore. Ask your hubs to keep his beer elsewhere....get all of AL out of your space. Keep your belly full, and keep checking in here and reading!! We're glad you're here!!

Thank you SunFlower for stopping by.

Hope everyone has an easy Sunday! Byrdie

Feeling strong-ish today. Woke up early got a load of stuff done.

All my brothers have gone out for a drink together down the pub. It's funny how AL is seen as a bonding 'tool'. This is where I am trying to work on my life atm - trying to use my real emotion to connect with people. AL has left me more isolated than ever really as most of my 'connecting' has been drunk. So I am challenging myself to make real relationships now. I have said too many false promises in drunken states, and let people down. And vice versa.

With Christmas coming up I will have a lot of old friends who will want to meet up down the boozer. This is where I need to start making new friends. That will be the challenge over the next 4 weeks. I may just work my ass off at home on my business and make for a more fruitful year next year.

So atm, feeling human compared to just a week ago. Being sugar free + alcohol free is good, but I need that excitement in life. I need to get socialising. I need to take things less serious.
