Happy Thursday everybody, its terribly windy here today. The more i read the more I reflect that beating this demon is all about mind set and viewing al for what it is a major negative for people with mad wired brains like us. Its not a friend, a reward, a relaxer, a socialiser, a pleasure, a companion. To me and many like me it is a demon, an enermy, a relationship wrecker, a route to humiliation , self hatred and loathing and ultmimatley a threat to life from the physical and emotional effect and thats not to mention the threat of dangerous situations that we allow ourselves to be in when we are under the influence. So for me this battle is about mind set, change that and the job in hnd will be so much easier !! day 3 for me and rising xx

Hope everyone is doing well today! Today is day 12 for me and I woke up feeling so good! Today I am taking my son to the park to play (its gonna be so nice not bringing booze with me, or rushing home to drink if i ran out!) then I am going to an AA meeting later. I have also started keeping a journal in which I wrote a list of all the reasons I wanna stay sober, how drinking makes me feel afterwards, etc so whenever I start to crave a drink I can remind myself why I want to stop in the first place My hubby is still drinking though not as much and he said that he really doesnt want me to relapse because its around me all the time so hes agreed to quit with me and hes going to come to AA with me! For the first time in a long time I am happy, but I know its still too early to let my guard down.
Hope everyone has a good day!?That's the problem with drinking,
If something bad happens you drink in an attempt to forget;
if something good happens you drink in order to celebrate;
and if nothing happens you drink to make something happen.?

Lovely, so glad to hear hubby is going to join you - it's going to make your journey so much easier if he's there to support you.
Although, and I really don't want to be a downer here, but it's something that worries me and something that could happen: please have a plan in place if he slips - make sure that he doesn't pull you down with him.
Stay strong, and enjoy the time in the park with your little one!14 October 2013 was the first day of the best days of my life!

MAE, All:
Thanks for the GF breakfast - the muffins were awesome. Let's try savory, too!
Londoner - good spotting. I always blame my ruddiness on my fair skin, but for sure when I stopped drinking for only three weeks in November it calmed down. Alky posted about a drunk young girl from his college and she looked at least 15 years older than her real age. Yikes. I read that J-Lo doesn't drink - she's my age and has skin 20 years younger.
AClass - Yes, copy, paste, put your name in. I put the day I am starting as it signifies my comittment that I will not drink today (especially on prize day - who wants to have to return Byrdie's moon?)
Poppy - a good assessment of what alcohol is to us, for sure. As Londoner says, it is absolutely about emotion - my rational self has known I need to quit drinking for a while. In the mod. thread you started I really resonated with the idea of mind peace which is what I finally feel after accepting that I don't drink and can't again. Takes the decision off the table which is very freeing.
All of my Day 4 peeps - let's keep on trucking. I hope you're polishing that moon, Byrdie.
Off to an early meeting - will catch up more later.

GWAWKY MAE (Good Whatever and Whenever, Kiddos....Morning, Afternoon, Evening) Gosh, we are people pleasers, aren't we?!!!
Lucky for yall I have a pretty big butt so I will be ready to award ALL of the moons that we need!! No worries about that!!! :H
Oddly enough, I was reading a post on FaceBook yesterday from a former coworker of mine. She has NO idea about my problem, but turns out she was married to an ALK. Her perspective was extremely eye opening. I wonder if I have the techno skills to copy and paste it here??? You know, we just think of this thing mostly in terms of ourselves but our effect has ripples that we don't even realize. It was profound....so I'll go see if I can find that.
I can't tell you HOW PROUD I am of everyone giving it 100% You are so right Poppy, it IS ALL MINDSET! Switch those gears and get out of deprivation mode and into gratitude mode....THANK GAWD I DON'T HAVE TO GET DRUNK TODAY!! Set your mind into keeping those goals and do not BUDGE! To be such a young nester, you are sure 'getting it'!!!
There is success going on here and it's a joy to be part of it! Keep it going!!!! Hope everyone has an easy day!!! Byrdie

I have another reason for not wanting to drink. I saw a girl who I used to work with and haven't seen for a few years. My word! She has aged so much and she is in her mid 20's. She drinks like a fish Fri and Saturday each week.
And it is starting to show.
I do not want to be one of those prematurely aged persons.Happiness is neither virtue nor pleasure nor this thing nor that but simply growth, We are happy when we are growing.

GWAWKY MAE!
Byrdie, I would like to read the Facebook post too if you can find it. A couple of months ago, a Facebook friend of mine admitted to being an alcoholic. From what I can tell, she's stopped drinking and is going to AA. I haven't told her about my problem yet, but once I get a few more weeks under my belt, I may send her a private message letting her know, and letting her know brave it was for her to post that. I don't really know her that well in person, so I don't want to make her uncomfortable, but I do want to let her know I understand and she can talk to me if she needs or wants to.
Welcome back Lovely! Please continue to post here when you need support. There's always someone around to talk to and remind you how good things are now and how bad things were then.11/5/2014

Hi Nesties!
LOVES!!! I am so glad to see you back! I've thought about you A LOT! I'm so happy that things are going good for you. Enjoy that little boy of yours, they grow up WAY too quickly so enjoy this time with him.
Londoner - I have to admit that a lot of the reason I quit drinking (and now finally, smoking) is vanity...I didn't want to be one of "those" women that looks like she drinks and smokes....you can spot them a mile away!
It is FREEZING here in Sunny California...mid 20's at night...we seriously do not know how to handle this cold!:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:
Believe in yourself. You are stronger than you think.
