    Newbies Nest

Hi all.....just wanted to wish everyone a good night. Curling up in the nest here. Whoops.......Just looked at the clock and realize that I'm wishing some of you good morning!

Have had a couple of yucky days. But they were AF rotten days. :H Amazing what you start to realize about things when you stop drowning all your feelings in alcohol. Interesting.
    ..............................................

Instead of just coffee & bagels, I'm fixing breakfast. Place your orders here....:chef:

      Hi everyone.

Nora you are going to have rotten days whether you drink or not however trying to handle a rotton day with alcohol makes it even more rotten cause of all the other things AL brings with it. Well done for getting thru AF.

Katie - you are such an inspiration. You came to us really struggling, so totally lacking in confidence that you can live AF and now look at you! Well done, I hope you are proud of yourself cause you have come a long way in such a short time. Onya mate!

Lav - I had a look on the net where Atlantic city was. I am so ignorant of where anything is in the States.

Hey Papmom, I go to Curves too. It's great isnt it.... No mirrors, no men and no lycra! Just love my girlpower half hour.

It's nice that while we are all struggling to live AF and use this site for support, we can all have a bit fun too. I have a vision of a Spuddleduck in my head and it doesnt look like that one Fluff!

Feeling abit better today after the husband incident on Thursday night. He has said he will "try" to go AF for a while however I dont have much confidence. He has to do it for himself, not for me. I try to mentally disassociate myself from him when he is drinking. When he is talking sh*t, repeating himself and swaying, I have to realise that it is the AL not him. I feel I have to be really careful in judging people as I dont want to be a hypocrite - it was only nine weeks ago that I was in that bad place also. Anyway if anything, it confirmed my resolve NOT TO DRINK AGAIN.... so there was something to be learned from it.

The weather here is FINALLY cooling off abit. We have had the hottest and dryest summer on record. No rain for about four months now. I am sure ready for a bit of that wet stuff from the sky.... can anyone send over some please?

Well, I am going to get back to my gardening - I am ripping out some plants that just werent performing and put in something different. Saturday afternoon used to be my time for sharing a bottle of wine with myself while gardening but this time I might get some cranberry and soda.

Hi to Tranq, Jolie, Soph, Chook and everyone else who pops in.

        Thanks Hippychick and runningwind..
I am feeling pretty proud of myself.. but I know I must not get complacent as its easy to start thinking you can control AL, then only to end up repeating the same mistakes again..
I have almost finished a book I got out of the library today - I only got it out this afternoon and have only a couple of chapters left it's so good! It's called "Allen Carr's Easy way to Control Drinking".. but its not a book all about moderating; it talks about addiction and exposes the myths in relation to AL..
        Anyway, its a great read..
Have a good night all, be back tomorrow

Hi Nora C-I'll have scrambled eggs with cheese, sausage, english muffin and tea please!!
What I'm really having is bagels and cream cheese as I rush off to work!

Happy Chick, yes I love Curves for that reason too! Unfortunately I've not gone more than I've gone-only 20 times out of 6 months so I've decided to opt out. there is a new type of gym in the area called Fitness Together. It's all about affordable personal trainers so i'm going to check that out. Next week we're supposed to have real spring weather here in the North East so the dogs are going to finally get their walks!!

I can so relate to the anger issues. I've realized that I have anger management issues as well. What I'm trying to do is figure out what things are worth risking a stroke and what arent. People cutting me off? yup-want to stop the car, get out and throttle them but they will never change until they get hit or hit someone and maybe not even then so I just slam on my brakes and shake my head. I might flip them the bird just to do something "constructive" LOL. I don't have kids so all kids annoy me to no end but I try to think how bad their parent's lives must be to have to deal with the really bad ones. I don't go out to eat by myself so I avoid most of those scenarios. One of the things I'm trying to do is wear my iPod more so I'm not so aware of these scenes so much. I'll let you know how it works. I think most of my anger is really coming from being so mad at myself so once I can deal with that hopefully I won't be so angry at the world in general.

Here's sending some New England rain to our "mates" down under so that your fall gardens become lush paradises.

Take care everyone and have a great AF Saturday/Sunday!!

            hey everyone,
I just got out of the shower and noticed an extensive rash all up and down my arms, across my chest, I think across my upper back and onto my neck. I've been on all the supplements for 6 days. Has anyone else seen this? it's not really itchy-yet. Please help!!

              Hi Papmom,

Please don't direct the rain to Queensland! I'm OK in Brisbane but there has been horrendous flooding here.

Hippy Chick could probably do with it though. :H

                Good morning Nesters,

Lots of rain & wind this morning in my end of the nest! Geez!!!

Papmom, I've never used the supplements recommended here - have been taking my own because I have so many allergies Hopefully somone will chime in with some ideas for you.

HC - I live about a 2 hr. drive from the coast. It's always so nice to go see the ocean & beach even when the weather is nasty Atlantic City was very old & run down years go when the casino industry moved in & revitalized most of the town. Now you have one glittering casino after another to visit & try your luck. BTW - I have absolutely no luck gambling whatsoever :upset:

Well, I running out to check on my hens.........I'm sure they missed me yesterday!
Wishing everyone a great AF Saturday!

                  Papmom - I just don't know.
I tried to look up to see if there were side effects but I wasn't sure which supplements you were taking. I looked up these three.

Milk Thistle -If you have a ragweed allergy, you should also avoid milk thistle. Milk thistle may cause a rash or lead to severe allergic reaction.

Didn't really see anything about rashes on on the kudzo and l-glutamine.

                  Please keep us posted.

                    Thanks Nora C,
I'll cut out the Milk Thistle and see if the rash goes away as quickly as it came on. Now I just have to figure out which of the capsules is the Milk Thistle LOL!!. :thanks:

Looks like Magnesium can also cause itching and hives which I don't have yet but I think I'll cut that out too and once the rash is gone, add it back in to see if it returns. I bet it's the Milk Thistle since I have horrible outdoor allergies although I don't remember specifically having allergies to ragweed.

It's OK Nora, I don't think I 've done too much damage to my liver-I had a cat scan a few months back to check for Kidney Stones and they said everything looked good and all my bloodwork was normal. I'm very lucky that after all these years my liver apparently is still healthy. ray: I can proabably do without the Milk Thistle for now. Thanks again for diving in to check for side effects of the different supplements-I really appreciate the fast response as I had to rush off to work. Now that the phones have settled down I have a bit more time to surf and dig deeper.

Good job. I just had my blood work done again a couple months ago. Everything still looked good. I think I better take this as a sign. I am 51 years old. Been battling this BAD for the past 15 years at least. Probably more but my alcohol muddled brain can't remember. :H
Anyway - hope you figure out the rash right away. Now I'm heading off to work. At least it's Saturday and I should be the only one in (unless my boss decides to come in).

                            Have a great AF day!!!!!

I put in the sleep learning CD last nite right before I thought I would fall asleep. All I heard was running water. Isn't there supposed to be a voice in the background or is the sleep learning subliminal too? Anyone else have this set of CDs? Can't say that it was a restful sleep at all. At least with AL I would fall asleep (ok, pass out) and stay asleep for a few hours instead of all this tossing and turning. Don't worry-not going back to that as my sleep aid-not worth the hangovers and the wine head the next day. Just looking for a decent nite's sleep for once. :imwaiting:
