    Re: Newbies Nest

    Hi, All:

OHM, is right, Lav. I had a good yoga class and that helped. I'm dealing with aging parents, and I'm the closest offspring, so I get the call first. I am happy to be here to help, but it is a lot to do that AND try to parent two teens. I appreciate your well wishes.

SLO - that made me laugh, even though deep down it is not funny. Drinking through the Non Drinking challenge...

I have no tickets to Boozeville tonight. I will be having a nice quiet night at home.

Slo,o think our bodies/minds just need time to heal, think if you poured some kind of acid on your skin daily for awhile,,it would burn you and scan and just take along time to get better but if we were to keep pouring on the acid it would never heal,,I dunno what's happened to me physically to where I cannot tolerate alcohol physically,I get really dry,my kidneys hurt,I always barf, etc where as before it never affected me in that way so best to just leave it in the gas station fridge where it is Rava, hope that challenge works for you, maybe with that motivation you'll be able to stick to your goal ugh feel kinda brain foggy, hate that! No ticket to boozeville here. One, i've unsubscribed, 2, the ticket spruikers on the street corner look at me approaching now and say to each other - 'nah Ralph, he don't look like he needs no ticket to no freakin boozeville. This guy's too sharp lookin' and full of purpose'......Right on.

                morning nesters

Well i am going away for a four day weekend and will be off grid most of the time. so looking forward to a break and doing nothing. Mads is coming along so she is pretty excited just to be going for a drive.

Might even manage to drop into an op shop or two.

Pauly i never vomited when i drank, what a waste that was, i still hate vomiting. so glad your in the right mindset, no one can take your sobriety off you, except you.

the dr who is my boss took the stitches out of my hand yesterday and it is feeling so much better today and doesnt look as infected. back to the specialist next week, if she wants to biopsy anything else, i am running out.

take care and have a good weekend xx

                  Good evening Nesters,

Ava, enjoy your break & CONGRATS on your 5 year AF anniversary :yay: :welldone:
Take care of your boo boo hand!!

Hi G, stay positive like that & you will continue to do well! Have a good weekend.

Pauly, there are no positive effects of alcohol, none whatsoever. It's good we know that now & stay away at all costs!!

Rava, stick with your 30 day challenge, you won't be sorry

Pav, I know the pain of caring for aging parents & your own family at the same time. It's rough, never ending work but it is rewarding at the end. I knew my parents got the best possible care right from me. My three brothers were zero help the entire 12+ years. Treat yourself with the same kindness & take care of you as well.

We actually went out & bought a tree today, early for us. I don't want it in the house yet, it will be happy in a bucket of water outside for another week or two.
Wishing everyone a safe night in the nest!

Ava - 5 Freakin' Years!!! That's so awesome - i can't wait to be like you :heartbeat: Congrats to you on your hard-earned milestone.

Yikes, I really suck at nesting these days. I promise to keep trying, but I have to come up with a system. I have issues with memory (from a brain injury back about 15 years ago) and if I don't have visual reminders I tend to forget things. Not that I forget about you all or the nest - I just forget to do a daily or even regular check-in. I was doing quite well while it was just part of my routine, and then the trip to Italy through me off most of my "routines" and I'm struggling to get them back. But I will!

In the meantime, my quit is intact and that's the most important news I could ever share.

Hope you all are doing well and that you have fantastic weekends.

Good morning nesters. Feebee congrats on 1 week and Ava 5 years! Awesome accomplishment! I am sticking with the 30 day challenge. So far so good. I love the videos and journaling part and so far it seems to be the extra push I need. This is the best I have felt in months. I need to keep the momentum up for this to work. Keep my head in the game and not up my ass. Hope everyone has a great Saturday. I am making beef jerky for my family. LOL

                          Re: Newbies Nest

Rava, glad you’re keeping your head up where it belongs! It can be a tough time of year to quit, but Ava & Pav have shown us that it certainly is possible. Congratulations to you two at the start of this December five years later!

Pauly, it’s actually good news that your body can no longer physically handle alcohol very well -you can definitely use that to your advantage!

It’s interesting how the normal drinkers drink. Like my son-in-law gets his cocktail delivered last night at the restaurant and just lets it sit there for like 10 minutes without even taking a drink out of it! Then just slowly nurses it over a long period of time. Same with my husband and his small bottle of weak beer. I’m a slammer and slam down any beverage rapidly, whether it’s soda, water, booze, or whatever. My two near beers were gone in a heartbeat! (A late dinner with a long wait didn’t help.) So it’s particularly dangerous for me to be drinking a powerful toxin like alcohol since it’s so easy to take in large quantities.

Best wishes for a sober December weekend for us all!

You are a sober rock star in my book. I love how you face sobriety - with steadfast adherence to following the steps you need to follow to avoid relapse, and with an amazing amount of humor. I appreciate being here with you - you tell the truth always. I also appreciate your bravery and honesty in living an out-loud sober life. I think of Avicci, and of the brick you have waiting should I decide to drink again... I hope you are spending some time just reveling in the accomplishment that is 5 years sober. WHOOT!

And yes, nest, I am a slammer also. I wonder if fast drinking is a sign of alcoholism. I should look at my kid's juice?

I have my first holiday/birthday party tonight. It is a fair distance away, so I will be in a car with my husband instead of having my own. The good thing is that he will go when I need. Exit strategy, check.

                                Rava - you GO!

Hi, Wags. Good to see you check in. I'm never worried about you drinking, I know you don't drink...

                                Happy SOBER Saturday.
