    Re: Newbies Nest

    Good evening Nesters,

The local schools started back today & my grandsons seem to have survived. They’re here with me until their mother picks them up on her way home from work.
The beautiful weather has decided to stick around & I am more than grateful

Tony, sorry you received that rather negative reception from the doctor. After a lifetime of working in the medical field I can tell you that was unnecessary & completely unprofessional
You have all the AL lout of your system by now, I’m sure you are safe. Just pay attention to keeping yourself hydrated & well fed, you’ll be fine. I hope the Smart Recovery group works out for you!

Jvo, congrats on your 1st day back! Attitude is everything! An early CONGRATS to you on your 4 AF weeks, well done!

NS, Pauly, Kensho, Pav, Byrdie, G & everyone - Hello to all!

Wishing everyone a safe night in the nest!

      Morning nesters

Wow J, 4 weeks, you go girl, a great number and upwards it keeps going. No one is worth drinking at.

Tony we are all going to meet nay sayers with regards to what THEY think works, is she one of us? Probably not and as Lav says, they go by text books not experience. You are doing well and will keep doing so with the tools that you are gathering. No point in getting the feck its over this. Keep going with no regrets only positives. We all stop drinking in our own way.

Kensho, i never drank as much as some of the people on here but i accepted i was an alcoholic and i was one of the lovely people on MWO. I always will be an alcoholic and i just need to be accountable each and every day to remind me of this fact. We come onto a drinking site for a reason and that is alcohol.

My daughter is in vegas now and she messages me today and said "mum i think you could relapse in this place, you can smoke and drink everywhere". i told her i would probably relapse smoking but never with drinking. If all there was left in the world was alcohol or dirty puddle water, i would drink the puddle. i hope to feel like that with smoking one day but at 4 months its still early days. She is having a great time but said she looks like a shiny ball with all the sunscreen she is using. The joy of technology being able to stay in contact.

Today i am off to the gym and to do some more cleaning. Carl is at the vets getting desexed and boy is it quiet without him. i did find some toast buried under my blanket so hope he remembers that.

      take care xx

Tony, I agree with Lav, your Dr sounds like a tool. Can you get a second opinion?

Ken, your Tony Morrison quote is really good. I have to remember that.
Pav, my job is stressful and worrying about getting laid off is stressful but I think that is me over reacting. After 90 days I know they will be keeping me on as long as we have work. I just think too much and this weekend I just couldn’t stop obsessing.

Jvo, glad your first day back was so good. That is amazing actually, I know how stressed out you used to get.

We have beautiful weather here too. I have been riding my electric bike to work and back everyday.it is awesome. It’s about 11km one way so not too bad.

Take it easy and don’t drink today.

I wrote this post on the way out the door this morning and re-read it and was thinking it has no point, the point I was trying to make is it's a high alcohol percentage that barely tastes like alcohol cuz it's masked with fruity flavors,I think it's frightening that they make this stuff cuz I can understand how a person could get accidentally too drunk on it,also it's colorless so way easy to hide in a glass but looks harmless, there now that I have more time to explain what was going on in my head when I posted it haha

Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

Hey all. Checking in. Heard from my big deal today , he said they were reevaluating all three companies again. I’m so frustrated. Looks like we are starting all over again. I’m not sure I’m going to make it. All I gotta do is get thru this day, huh?

Tony, that dr stinks. I would dare to say that the experience you have right here would eclipse the experience she has. I have a dr similar to that and I’m about to drop him, he is a pompous ass. They are out there. So glad you didn’t drink AT her. Trust me, that just doesn’t work out. Hang right in there, you are doing great....and WE know!
Hugs to all, stay strong no matter what and no matter who. Byrdie.

Pauly, I have puked on every kind of alcohol and I still kept on drinking. It only took about 38 years to figure it out.

Byrdie, big hug from me. Sorry about th big deal, ugh.

                    Hi, all:

Lots of words of wisdom today. Thanks.

Tony - sorry the doc was so callous. I think you are ok as far as the major problems are, but I'm sure you're encountering a lot of anxiety with the withdrawal. Did she have advice on that? I walked a lot - I think I found every path within 10 miles of my house - and listened to the Bubble Hour podcast. I also took baths during the witching hour. Find something that de-stresses you and really focus on taking care of yourself. Use us for support any way you can.

Byrdie - that is terrible. I'm so sorry that you keep getting put through the ringer with that job.

Ava - Carls toast made me laugh out loud. Hilarious. I hope he's ok.

Nar - that sounds lovely. Will you be able to do that in the winter? I would imagine you would freeze to death. I hope you settle in to that job soon.

Pauly - you crack me up. I totally read between the lines of that first post. I'm sure they're marketing that to kids. For sure I have my eye on mommies who drink vodka and soda - it was my drink of choice because fewer calories and worked quickly.

                    Hi, everyone else.

                    Happy SOBER Tuesday.

                      Re: Newbies Nest

                      Evening,

Well...today was a long day full of trainings for new programs we need to implement and computer programs we need to learn to assess our students because, hey! We donÂ’t assess enough!! We sat in the same seat for three and a half hours in the morning with a five minute break. Our superintendent scolded us like we were children as some people were looking at their cell phones. Now, the tell us not to instruct by just lecture alone, and thatÂ’s exactly what we got all day long. My hips were hurting once I got up! Remind me of that when IÂ’m not allowed to sit down in my classroom...sorry for the rant. Just a bit crabby but just a little tired. Not thinking of alcohol at all. I distressed by walking after work and it felt really good. I need to mentor a young teacher, which is fine, just a lot of extra time. The new teachers are so young!! IÂ’m sure their hips werenÂ’t bothering them after sitting like that.

Byrdie, sorry that the deal didnÂ’t work out. Gosh, so good youÂ’ve been sober for so long. That would have been a hard thing to get through in early sobriety. You are so strong in your quit, you can do this. One day at a time. Hugs.

I listened to a YouTube documentary while walking. It was entitled, are you bored in sobriety? Sorry, I’m not doing proper punctuation tonight. Anyhow, it’s all how you define boring. He said it took him a good while to find out what he liked to do, hobbies, other things, and that wasn’t until around the second year. He said for the first, yeah, it was a bit ‘not fun’ as he was always reading sobriety stuff and going to meetings. But once he had some good sober time, he naturally wanted to do things and those things weren’t boring. Can anyone give input on how your life did not become boring? I know destroying ourselves can’t be defined as “fun” or not boring. But how do you define fun? My life now is very structured, somewhat mundane, but I know I have work to do so that I can have fun without worrying about triggers. I was thinking yesterday how nice it would be to go and have dinner out with my husband, but then I thought that was the stupidest idea right now. That is a huge trigger for me. Not necessarily with my son or other people but just with my husband as I didn’t care what he thought if I got plastered or even had three with a small dinner, and one before dinner, maybe one after (the after dinner drink...).

                      Have a good night.

                        Good evening Abbers,

Pauly, you got me to thinking about wine coolers when they first came out. Same deal, drank them like water

Pav, I just realized I didn’t answer your chicken questions yesterday. If all conditions are right they can live a good 7-8 years but only lay for about 2.5. That’s when they become pets & I put them to work outside eating bugs while trying to avoid the predators.. They love roaming free & can do so all day very peacefully. We usually don’t hang on to them that long though. Our Amish neighbor takes them off our hands

Tony, hope your day was A-OK!

Jvo, Congrats again to you on your 4 weeks AF!

NS, I had to learn to wait too before responding to a trigger/stress. The old response was off the table & I had to come up with some newer, healthier ones

                        Hi there G & Narilly!

Byrdie, sorry about the deal dragging on so long. I’m sure you have done all you can do

Wishing everyone a safe night in the nest!

                            Hello Nest.

Ava - your daughter is so right. There was alcohol everywhere in the casinos. At least to me it seemed like that. Both times that I went in the last 10 years, I was shakily sober. So, I noticed alcohol.
                            Hope Carl survived desexing ok.

Byrdie - I am so absolutely frustrated for you. Great big hugs.

Lav - I started out buying the wine coolers but it got expensive so then I was on to buying a big box of wine to mix with Diet 7-up. Gag. I certainly never drank for the taste. Whatever got me there faster was the answer. uke:

Quick check in. Glad u had a better day Tony. Smart recovery is great. I especially like the CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) approach to thinking focus. Makes sense and it works. May take some practice to ingrain, like most things new.
