    Re: Newbies Nest

    Evening all,

Apologies, I have very strong opinions on meds, spent a long time in healthcare, plus a friend of mine got hooked on pregabalin and out of that, opiates and alcohol found the pregab by far the worst.

Finally saw a doctor today, really kind receptionist got me in, really lovely doctor took a look and gave me some meds to take until I can see a specialist. Actually took a nap after, the stress has been keeping me up, soon as it was done I crashed.

Day ten AF today, longest streak I've picked up in over 3 years, would be great to be clean as well but I'm doing what I have to right now and it feels great to not be drinking.

      Good evening Nesters,

Weather is changing here & it will soon be very cold. Probably staying inside all weekend, don’t need to be anywhere.

Battle, I’m glad you were able to see a doc & you have a plan now. Rest up as much as you can this weekend & I hope you get some relief. Congrats on your 10 AF days!!

TJ, good to see you. Are you expecting any winter weather from this big storm moving across the country? When I heard snow in LA I was amazed, geez.

Hello to all & wishing everyone a safe night in the nest!

Battle - You're coping with a lot and you're doing great. Take the 10 days AF as a win.

Lav - you're right, 10" of snow is a pretty significant amount no matter where you are! We're still buried since the temps haven't gotten above the freezing point since the snow fell. Fortunately my wife and I have little mini-crampons that make walking icy streets and sidewalks totally doable. It's a winter wonderland!

TJ - sorry your wife has chronic pain too. It makes everything so much more challenging and is in and of itself very fatiguing.

Hellos and waves everyone - hope good weekends are in store for each and every nester.

          Evening nesters

we have had a 3 day heat wave and i cannot wait for autumn to come next week. now its not hot, just humid and so dry.

Battle, great work on 10 days af. I hope you get relief from your arm pain. I have carpal tunnel, bursitis, tendonitis in my right arm and had it for over 8 months now. i am lucky enough to be in a research group which are doing certain exercises to see if there is any benefits. Hopefully I will get some relief as it just kills, especially at nightime when i lay on it. Seeing a specialist is a great idea.

Wags, sorry to hear about your dad, i am lucky my mum at 86 is going well but she told me she is ready to go, had enough of this life. Not that she would do anything but i understand how she feels.

Life is being lifey here, Carl is out of his crate but trying to get him to not jump on things is a challenge, he is so quick, he is loving being back on my bed and giving me 2 inches of it. I am off to a diabetes specialist for Bindi next week, hopefully they can sort her high levels out. Having lunch with my eldest son tomorrow and his new girlfriend so that will be lovely.

no other news but wanted to check in, take care x

            Good evening Nesters,

Ava, you’re dealing with heat & humidity & we’re dealing with cold temps. Ice & snow in some places.
We were supposed to have a light coating of snow this afternoon but it never materialized. If I hadn’t been outside when a few flakes fell I would have completely missed the whole thing haha!
We’re getting the unused side of the chicken house cleaned out because we will be chicken sitting for a neighbor the first week of March. I wouldn’t dare try to mix her birds in with mine, there would be fights & feathers everywhere. It’s easier to fix up the extra space & have her bring her birds over

Wags, sounds like maybe you’re enjoying your winter wonderland a bit
I still can’t believe it’s snowing in LA, wow!

Ava, Carl must be feeling well, can’t ask for more than that! I hope Bindi gets her sugars regulated before anything else breaks down, poor thing.

Hello to all & wishinh everyone a safe night in the nest!

In less pain but half asleep from painkillers most of the time, just working as best I can, hoping it gets better.

Ava - I have tendon and nerve damage from a trap nerve and tendonitis, had two surgeries but still acts up now and again, not this bad before though. Pretty sure seeing a specialist they'll only tell me what I already know.

              Waves to everyone.

                  Sunday evening greetings Nesters,

Hope everyone is doing as OK as possible.
Still no snow here but I’m not really complaining. Likely to get a spot of rain tomorrow. I’m all set for my chicken sitting later this week while my neighbor goes to FL. It’s nice to be able to help out when needed

Same old same old today, put in 20+ days on my project last couple of days, frustrating typing with one hand but can read and work on data, still enjoying it even under trying circumstances.

Typing with one hand is tough, Battle! I hope your pain resolves soon so that your work it easier. I'm terrible at typing on my phone so I dictate but boy, Siri really messes up what I say sometimes!!

I was home alone for the weekend and so aware of how happy and relieved I was not to be worried that I would drink and lose all that time of solitude that I really enjoy. I worked on some projects, went for a hike (with daughter and grandson - I wasn't a complete hermit!), ate blueberries and cream for 2 dinners, and went to bed early!

Lav, I was happy to miss out on the snow but this up and down with the temperature is weird. Today is spring-like but hard to get out and enjoy b/c of the rain. Oh well, weather certainly is one of those things over which we have no control and so is not worth our worry.

Ava, you must be a true dog whisperer. I think taking care of 1 is a lot of work! I brushed a small dog's worth of fur out of our Golden yesterday. She looked beautiful for about 15 hours but we just walked in the rain and now her fur is curly, kinky, and scraggly. I'm actually not in to 'perfect dogs' so it is ok with me but she really did look nice for a bit.

                        Greetings Nesters,

Getting a bit if the predicted rain now, better than snow!

Battle, so happy to hear you are able to function well enough just using one hand. This will be something you’ll remember for a long time to come

NS, our Goldens were always so hairy, haha. The Swiss Mountain dog was exceptionally hairy with her double coats. At least dogs don’t smell half as bad when wet than chickens do, phewww!!
Good to hear you got out for a hike, sounds nice.

I hope some others check in this week, haven’t heard from quite a few for a while. Wishing everyone a safe night in the nest!

                          Evening all,

Still working hard, still with one arm. Feeling kind of down about the whole thing, between the pain, being half asleep on painkillers, feel like I can't get anything done. Going to try cutting back on them tomorrow, see if I can work through pain, at least I'll be productive.

Lav - I actually had a whole year where only one arm worked so I'm pretty skilled already, rusty now but quick to adjust.

Yikes, somehow I lost a few days of posting. I'll have to read back to catch up fully.

Battle - congrats on your 2 weeks AF, but sorry to hear you're in so much pain.

Lav - have fun chicken sitting! Seems like most of the country except for your area got snow recently.

NS - sounds like a good solo weekend. I used to scheme drinking binges any time I had even a day solo and am now always so proud that I don't even consider such shenanigans. It feels so good to use solo time productively (and to remember it later!) doesn't it?
