Welcome Solitaire-you have day 1 and the first few days can be difficult but you've made that first hard step by admitting you have a problem and finding this forum. I see you have started your own thread and I know you will get lots of support and guidance there. May I also suggest the newbie's nest?

Hello Becoming-I thought I was going to be the early bird here but you and Starts have me beat by a country mile!

My step daughter has an unpleasant meeting this morning with her x-mother-in-law early this morning. Her husband was killed in a freak accident at work 10 years ago. Her in-laws have really caused alot of conflict between her and her 2 kids during this time. She asked if I would go with her to this meeting since both her mother and father have to work. Confutation of any kind is very difficult for me so I'm really not looking forward to this. I didn't sleep very well last night so I came here and read alot of the old post, worked out a plan. I will stay calm. I will not be sucked into the old action/reaction drama. AINAO.

This website is wonderful. I couldn't have gone 12 days AF without the folks here. LilMia is now my new best friend. I've never met her, but she had only been on here a week or so when I found this website. She is my hero!!!!

Post and read! That's the advice I got when I was new. You will see yourself in so many people here. I thought I was all alone and I found out that there are so many people struggleing with alcohol. We can beat this thing together.

Horrible Horrible

I am crying now--have been since early morning.

My co-worker/friend's son died last night, 14 years old. At first they thought is was a suicide but it turns out he was playing the "choking game" and could not break free. So very sad. It seems his friends knew he was doing this, and that some had seen marks on his neck before. Apparently this is a "fun" thing to do--there are websites promoting it!! Sad and sick.

I have been researching this--it is a growing problem with teens. Before that it was cutting. I have to wonder what society and parents are doing so wrong?????

Im just glad my girls are grown. So much new "stuff" out there. Scares me to death. My step daughter is going through such a terrible time with her soon to be 18 yr old and 16 yr old sons. I am as supportive as possible being the step mom thing. But wow.

Hi angelcakes-how are you doing?

Can't stay long. I have to have new tires put on the car and have to be at the shop by 8:00 this morning. I was going to have my car washed and cleaned out but it's raining so I guess I can scratch that off my list. It's also my mother's B'day, she's 89. I was going to take her out to lunch but not sure if she will want to go in this weather. It was so sunny yesterday and was so wishing it would be like that today for her.

Anyway, it's time for me to take off. I hope everyone has a great AF day.
