Wecome to our newcomers, Wohboy and 12! It's great to have you join us. Wohboy, I did get to see the full moon last night! It was awesome. Hi Cuckoo! I'm getting ready for the day. Made another AF day yesterday! Hurray for that. I wanted to tell you all that my access to the internet, my laptop, crashed yesterday. My time on the site will be limited. I will keep checking in here, as this is a life line to me. Have a great day all!

Hello Wohboy, Dill, and 1MC. Dill sorry to hear about the laptop but great job on another day AF. You know what I find to be a kick in the a _ _ is that alcohol is a depressant so you would think when you quit overloading your body with it you wouldn't feel depressed but it seems the exact opposite is the case. It seems I am constantly fighting a case of the weepies. I did break today and bought a quart of butter almond ice cream and some chocolate truffles. Will need to get to the gym tomorrow.

As for my dear friend, 12 many, thank you for your very kind words.

When I first joined MWO, 12many and I started out on a thread very much like this one. Over time the members of the thread became like a family and shared many ups and downs. The thread lasted for almost a year but unfortunately it finally tapered off. 12many and I are the only 2 members that I know of that remain in contact.

For me this thread feels a lot like the thread that 12many and I joined when we first started. It has that same familiar feel. That is why I say it has been like a life saver to me. Have a pleasant night, all.

            Hey everybody!!

Dill, sorry about your laptop - I do not know how I would function w/o mine, I don't know how I went to school the first time without one. I didn't have cordless phone then either...............OH, and congrats on another AF day!!

ND, if you're still on this side of the world, have fun on your trip down there!!

Cuckoo, I had that verge of crying at everything for a few days after I had been AF for two weeks - and I'm one of those who doesn't cry easily - but thankfully that passed. I have been AF for a little while now, but still can't quite get out from under the funk...and I have a craving for sweets pretty often, but not as bad as at first.

Hey 1MC, I have that crud too. YUCK!! I haven't had a cold in two years...ARGGHH!

P'nut - where are you?? Out running a marathon and breaking world records? heehee

Hey Wohboy! Welcome! From one Southerner to another !

Alright yall - tomorrow is 6 weeks AF, so here's to you! Definitely could not have made it w/o popping in here to bitch and moan when needed. SO, thanks for listening, and then replying....

Hope everybody has a great AF day tomorrow, and tonight!!

            Night ya'll!

Wow, Cat! 6 weeks! Way to go! You're amazing!

This laptop ordeal is not good. But, I have some other options, so I can jump on for a bit. I am not having any trouble with depression. Of course, I haven't been as good as you Cat, at consistency, but I have definitely been racking up a lot of AF days. More than I've seen in years! Cat and Cuckoo, I hope you can kick that Mr. D!

Cuckoo, thanks for the background. I was curious, esp after 12's comment. I really think that's neat that you both may find safe harbor here!

1MC, I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. I sure am glad you posted because I had been thinking about you and wondering if you were doing OK.

Just checking in quickly here. My BF is going to give me a foot rub, as I am limping around here. Milled 27 samples today and then did a bunch of other lab work - I think just standing in one spot is sooooo bad for my feet. Another hard day tomorrow and I will be done milling - YEAH!!!!!

Wow - 6 weeks is Grrrrreat Cat!!!! I can't imagine. Maybe I can visualize myself into doing it!!! I'm hoping to start serious training March 1, after all this work and meetings are over, and I'm definitely going to have to have more AF days than I am now.

A bit of depression going around I see. Winter blues???? Fight that cold, 1more!! I hope you all start to feel better! And big hello to everybody else!

I best go position myself with my feet up, get a good night's sleep tonight too.
Talk to you all tomorrow hopefully.

Hello all -- well i let my depression and boredom get the best of me and drank last night. Not to the extend to which I used too but still felt bad that I wasn't strong enough. I felt horrible(emotionally) this morning and almost stayed home in bed but I knew that if I did that it would be another day of feeling depressed and then drinking. I have to get it together and get to my routine again -- exercise, listening to motivational cd's and the supplements. Well, enough of feeling sorry for myself, thanks for listening. I know I can come here vent and move on. :l I will be AF today.

Cat congratulations! 6 weeks, you are my inspiration. How are you able to continue to reach your goals -- any words of wisdom to share? Dill, glad you're able to get to a computer, I don't know what I would do without my computer. Cuckoos hope you enjoyed you butter almond ice cream and chocolate truffles. Welcome Wohboy.

Better get back to work. Hope everyone reaches their goal today.

I too am having laptop issues..internet wire that comes out of my wall is destroyed...I had it taped with electical tape to stay in my laptop....when my son took the tape off , because the connector thingee fell out...the wire was useless...so until that gets repaired I have no home internet access....OMG!!!!

                      Hi all

Stressful week for a lot of us, it seems. winter is my least favorite time of year and I really see no purpose for it at all. It is depressing to me, especially February.

But the moon was great! I leave for work early and it was dark and foggy and that full moon was so very very pretty I ran onto the curb gawking at it. Duh! :H

Going to meet my daughters for dinner at our favorite Asian restaurant tonight. We have been spending more time together..I like that part of being sober.:h

Cat Belle, congratulations on 6 weeks AF. What a great milestone for you. Glad the weepies passed and hopefully you will soon come out of the funk too.

Dill, glad you are able to jump on even with the laptop problems. I found that Mr. Buttered Almond helped a lot with Mr. Depression last night.

Peanut, a foot rub last night and by now you should be done milling, correct? I hope you get some well deserved rest.

1MC, my biggest triggers for drinking are depression and boredom. It's good you didn't stay home and it sounds like you have a plan in place. Like Jamms says "Hang in there"

Jamms, I think it would be nice if this thread were to continue for a long time too. I know it started in January and I missed that one but would love to see it go on. I know from the thread I was on with 12many it was always sad when someone suddenly stopped posting.

UNG, I leave for work early too. Normally around 5:15 am and the full moon has been quite lovely. Fortunately, I haven't driven into any curbs gawking at the moon. :H Glad you are enjoying time with your daughters. What an upside to being sober.

                        Have a great night everyone.

                            Good Evening everybody!

Full moon was a beaut!!! I used to do all my running at night when my kids were small, and I always felt so safe running out in the country when the moon was full. Could practically read my watch by the moon light. So beautiful!!

Well, I'm pooped of course, but am waiting for BF to come home so we can go to the gym. Milling is complete, although another 32 samples are arriving tomorrow, but a recently-defended master's student who did all his work in durum quality (in my lab) is working with us, so he can do it. Phew!!! Now a couple days of baking, which is also very tiring. The end is near though - I can almost see it!!!

My son brought home an interesting condiment from work last night called Achiote, a paste made from achiote seeds and used in south american dishes. He marinated up some steak with it, and we grilled them when I got home from work. Very interesting. I would really like to know some other recipes that I could use it in. Has any of you heard of it or used it???

I really feel for you peeps who are suffering depression. My two best gal pals both are on meds for it, both had the condition triggered by suicides in their families. I talked to one of them the other night, and she had a terrible January. So worried about her, but I will visit with her when I go to my home city this weekend to see my dad and go to a meeting. Maybe I will suggest Mr Butter Almond to her, bring her some for a treat, hey Cuckoo??

Have a great night tonight everybody! Hope you all meet your goals!
