    Does anyone else do this?

    Hi all.
I've stopped drinking and i'm doing really well. When i start craving and it's really bad, i by a bottle of wine and leave it. It stops me for panicing about not having drink or not being able to get it BUT i NEVER EVER drink it. I just tip it down the drain.
If i don't have it, i find a reason to HAVE to go to the shops, buy some and then i WILL drink it.
I wonder why i do this? It's such a waste of money. Maybe i'm having trouble letting go?

Anyway, i've done it again today and i'm about to pour the WHOLE lot down the drain. I can't keep it or i'll drink it for sure tomorrow. Honestly, i must seem really crazy. I guess i am crazy BUT you know what i'm SOBER CRAZY!!! YAY BABY!!!!!!!!

Whatever works for you. Personally, I could not do that. I would obsess that there was a bottle of wine to drink and no taker. Being a responsible (lol) adult, I would have to fulfill that job. Drinking makes us look old, feel bad and promotes self loathing. Keep sober!:goodjob:

      :H YeahhhBABY!

No, I don't do that... because I wouldn't pour the wine down the drain; I'd pour it down my thoat. So no - definitely not. If I go GET a bottle, I'm done for.

Good for you, LilM. Like you said... do whatever you have to! :l

Nope. If wine is here I might be too tempted so I don't keep it in the house. I've never heard of this but if it's helping you, then buy the cheap stuff to pour out! Good work, michelle.

I can surely see where you comin from with this, cuz I tried that too!
It's as tho it takes the panic away. Without 'it', the panic is unbearable, so..the theory being.... having 'it', and just knowing 'it's' there, helps take that panic away.
Sadly tho, it never worked for me, ....if it's in, i'll drink it.Simple as that.

Lets see if this works. I've decided to have a funeral for my wine. When something dies your forced to mourn because there's nothing that you can do to bring it back I think I'll make a little casket and have a service tell it how much I'm gonna miss and throw a wreath in. Of course I'll have to bury an empty bottle so I don't find myself in some funk one night and try to dig it up. I found this site today and I'll tell you I'm feeling better already. I've been reading and thinking this might actually work. I've been sober less than a day. Thanks for being out there.

No .......... I don't pour wine down the drain (but did so when I was trying to quit). How many times I threw the rest of the wine down the drain in the morning. But now I happen to have a 6 pack of beer in my refrig which I bought for company that did not show. I think that every time I look at the 6 pack I feel --- well, er, slightly superior. Go figure?

Hi Lil Hope they are the cheap and nasty bottles. No I can not have a bottle of white in the house. I have had a couple of bottles of red in the rack since I started with my plan. I don't like red so thats safe. we also have beer in the fridge most of the time which doesn't worry me either. Just that nice white. I think a horrible cask would be safe in the ffridge also. what ever works for you is good. crazy but good.

Sorry, but can you imagine? A rainy, foggy night... a lone creature, half crazed... digging up the yard....

Oh dear. Yes, empty bottle... totally.
