6 Days AF and Counting
I never realized how much of a battle this was going to be. I can't remember the last time I went for 6 days with no alcohol. I can handle morning but I find that by afternoon the mind is either racing or can't focus on the task at hand. I decided to give up drinking when I realised that I was only having one AF drink a day. I have also recently started church and I believe that God doesn't want me to carry on the way I have been. I have been battling with the withdrawal symptoms and feel quite proud of myself when I can add another day on. I have only told one person about my decision and my family know that I haven't had a drink. It's not easy to admit to people who are close that there is a problem is it? I feel really encouraged by all of you that are pushing your waay through the continuous struggle. Thankyou for taking the time to write about it. God Bless. CarollTags: None

Hey Caroll, You are doing great there! The early days are difficult and confusing, but you have made a fantastic start. You should be very proud! Have you read the book and do you have any supplements to help with the craving?

6 Days AF and Counting
Hi, Caroll! Looks like you found your way to the Just Starting Out forum. I have been wondering if my explanation to you on PM made any sense. I hope it did!
You are right as to hard this battle is. I congratulate you on 6 days! That's awesome!
Admitting this to anyone, is difficult. I haven't been able to admit it to more than 3 very close people. Keep posting, reading, and trying!Dill
Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!
If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Well done on 6 days AF Caroll.
I have moderated my drinking, I am only up to day two. But I can identify with you when you say the mornings are easy, but by the afternoon its hell, at least I know I can have a little bit. I will just have to see how it pans out. Its the socialising that scares me - that's when I do the most damage.
Yes we can be ourselves here, because we all understand each other and there is no judgements, just pure support and loyalty.
Stay with the forum, and best of luck for day 7.
We're with you sister!Hey.....Life is good:yougo::crazymonkey::cheering:

Caroll, congrats on a strong start to your AF journey! Are you taking supplements? I find that taking kudzu and (especially) L-glutamine in the late afternoon helps stave off the cravings for sneaky AL. Here's to your continued success!~K.

6 Days AF and Counting
Caroll -- 6 days is terrific and really hard to put together. I have been sober a while and can remember when 6 days AF for me was almost impossible. Good for you!! Yes, getting sober is tough -- but it does get easier, especially when we begin to value waking up without a hangover, guilt, fear, pain, etc. When I first joined MWO I was drinking pretty heavily. MWO helped me incredibly so I believe you have come to the right place. Lots of love,Matt

Excellent!! You can do 7 days. For some reason I found days 6-9 harder, physically and mentally, than days 1-5 when all of the online information seems to suggest you should be OK by day 5. BUT, once I got over the "hump" of days 6-9 the first time, wow what a difference after that, at least for me. Hang in there! It's worth it and you're worth it.

Hi Carroll,
No it ain't easy. But you're in the right place. I've been here at the site on and off for over a year and it's helped me immensely. I've been AF more this past year than ever, and I believe the help, support, and encouragement by all of these people is a Godsend. Take it ODAT and figure out what you need to do. Everyone's plan is different for different reasons. Take care.Sometimes what you're most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free.
