Today i went to a pub (bar for my US friends) for tea with the family for the first time since ive been sober..and it wasnt so bad! there were the usual voices in my head..but the main thing was my children noticed i wasnt drinking..there teenagers they hadnt noiced for 11 days!!least said..but i had to make a commitment i felt.. and said "no i dont drink now"...and then they asked if i had stopped altogether? so i had to tell the truth..and my daughter said "well done mum" and it meant so much...we are so selfish us addicts thinking the world doesnt see what we do..i stupidly thought they didnt know..i vowed to never let them down again..to myself..they need a mother a sober one at the least more than i could EVER need a drink.

Shelley, I too went to a pub today. Actually an Irish pub in NYC. I didnt drink either but it was quite interesting since today is St Patty's day. Our kids notice. They want us to be sober. You are making your kids proud. Great job!!Comment
