Day 1
Hello lostagain. Alcohol is definitley in our irish nature I fear, but so is inner strength and optimism. We just keep getting back up again! I am desperate too and wine always seems like a good idea at any time of the day or night. I feel rotten today but tomorrow always has the possibility of being better. Good luck to you too...

Day 1
Hello ragdoll. The thing about caves is there is always a way out, no matter how hard it is to find. We have to believe that or all would be lost. Things are desperate now, lonely and frightening but we must try to find that opening. Good luck on your journey...

Day 1
Hello Juno.
I'm so glad you found this site. I have failed many times in my quest to reduce my drinking. I also have a convenient memory and easily forget how awful I felt while I'm uncorking another bottle of wine. Thankfully I found this site and it has really helped. I read the book cover to cover in one evening. I got on this forum the next morning and got so much support. I have not had a hangover since I found this site 6 days ago. The posts helped me a lot the first few days so keep reading and posting. I wish I had gotten the supplements and hypno cd's right away as there were a few really tough days. I just received everything today so I'll let you know how it goes.
You can do it... you really can!

Day 1
Thanks for that Boobie. I havent been able to switch off the computer all day as I'm terrified that by doing so I'l switch off a light and not be able to switch it on again! It gets pretty scary in this cave in the dark! Our memories really are selective as I'm sure I'l feel like drink in no time and I'l forget that I just want to die at the moment. I've just ordered the book, supplements and the cd so I'l be eagerly watching the post. I need this to work so badly.

Day 1
Welcome Juno,
So glad you found this site, it will be a tremendous help, you'll see. I check in several times per day for an extra boost of support. There is comfort in numbers.........
I am closing in on 3 weeks AF now and could not have done it without the support & encouragement from everyone here. This site has been a real blessing.
Best wishes, stay strong,

Day 1
Welcome Juno :welcome:
So glad you found this site. It has been a real lifesaver for me. You might also want to drop by the newbies nest. It's a much nicer place than that old cave!
Just focus on getting through this one day at a time. Drink alot of water the first few days and don't forget to eat. Post, read and ask questions. It does get better.AF since 7/26/2009

Day 1
Morning LT. What a thrill to waken up without a hangover. It' been a long night but sleep eventually came and not reaching for that bottle of wine was so worth it. The sun is shining (unusual for Ireland!) and I'm filled with hope. Little steps. How are you today? Juno

Day 1
Thanks for that lilmea. I will try the nest. Sounds a lot cosier than the cave! Day 2 here already and grateful for even that much. I do forget to eat and to drink water, because I'm so obsessed with either drinking alcohol or not drinking it! Thanks for the tips. Juno

Day 1
Well done Juno!!!!!!
:goodjob: How good does that feel then? Waking up for the first time in how long with a clear head (or not so clear) depending on how your w/d symptoms are like. to you!!!! Somebody's up there obviously thinking you've done a good job if the sun is a shining on you!!!! - like you say, very rare for the beautiful Emerald Isle :H
So, from looking around this wonderful family that is the MWO forum that you'll have learnt 1 thing above all - you're not the only 1 going through your problem - we've all got the same tee-shirt (different pictures or sizes and washed different times) but we're all hanging them out again and that's why we're here.
I hope you feel like your cave is now a bit more cozier .... perhaps with a few more friends in it, maybe a few comfy chairs to perch on and a bit of music in the background .... hang in there and take it ODAT (or like Phil in HK did - OHAT (one hour at a time in the first few days .... and now he's on day 6 now (mind you, he's 8 hours ahead of us guys!!!)) - it'll be good to get to know you Juno - you'll be amongst friends:hug: :lx

Day 1
Juno, and everyone else who have not been AF at all....welcome, welcome, welcome...everyday is a blessing. know that the physical addicition is not gone until about 5 days after you stop putting it into your body so you may find that you have some lows in the comming days that you may need to prepare yourself for. supplements will really help with that. keeping in touch and talking here will help as well. also know that if you slip pick yourself back up and come right back in.
Again Welcome and keep talking. Tell us when you feel good and tells us when you feel like crap.
