Work the My Way Out Program!

    Welcome Karney!
I am 4 week into the My Way Out Program and I am now 6 days Alcohol Free. I travel 5 days a week on business where Scotch and Vodka were my only companions. I gradually broke free from alcohol. Here is how I made my change:

    1. Get Roberta Jewett's Book and read it cover to cover.
2.Take RJ's book with copies of the Lancet study and excerpts of the topiramate dosing schedule to your primary care physician, nurse practicianer, or an addition specialist for a script for the topiramate or other pharmaceutical you can get.
    3. Get the supplements for the revised supplement schedule, including the increased kudzu and the addition of L-glut.
    4. Use Tylenol PM (Acetaminephin+benedryl), Melatonin and Calmes Forte as sleep aid.
    5. Get the hypno CDs and listen the them every night. I listen to either the Clearing or the Hypno CD to fall asleep, then either the Subliminal or the Sleep Learning to go back to sleep if I wake up.
    6. Get the support of the MWO Community. Read and post every day and night. We are not alone!
    7. Get active! Use the hotel gym or walk the halls to get tired out.

    God Bless You!

      Welcome to you too bdd,

This is a great place, isn't it? I've been here since February and have learned so much. Reading eveyone's posts and feeling the support and encouragement gave me the courage to quit drinking altogether. I'm just past 30 days now and feeling great!

Stay close, do a lot of reading and you will find the support and encouragement you need too.

      Best wishes,
      Lavande

        Thanks Dill.
So far this evening I'm ok. Just trying to create other things to do so I won't be tempted. Can you tell me what to expect?

Just the evenings. My friends who are co workers all do the same job across the country. So at night we talk on the phone or skype and just drink. We have a little group and we have evening cocktails together. MANY........ That's my problem I don't know when to stop.

Are you wanting to moderate your drinking or stop completely ??

I think moderate would be to easy to fool myself so stop is the only way. If I'm going to do it then I have to be honest with myself and stop completely.

Creating other things to do is a good step. I also think you are right to have some kind of sleep meds. I know that for me, I felt nervous and on edge at first. It takes time to smooth out your nerves and get adjusted. I used calme's forte, l-trptophan, valerian root and a half dose of diphenhydramine (in allergy meds) to help me settle down for sleep.

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

                            Hey! Welcome!
This place really is great for all the support and advice you may need.
Maybe you should make a plan for this evening to keep yourself busy. For example, my plans are, cook a nice meal from scratch, clean up dinner, bath baby girl, giver her a bottle while watching the simpsons, put her to bed, 30 mins on the sunbed, followed by a nice long soak in the bath then off to bed! If you make one, stiick by it.
Also get rid of alllll the drink in the house!
                            Good luck!

Have you read My Way Out?

                                Dear Karney:
Have you read Roberta Jewett's book, "My Way Out"?

Your plan for tonight should be to download the book, and read it cover to cover.

Get melatonin and Tylenol PM as sleep aid.

                                One day at a time.

I am a coward and could not stop alcohol without the MWO Program. I continued to drink alcohol until after three weeks into the program. Along the way I set limits and goals. I had a "one hour rule". I set a goal that I wouldn't have a drink for one hour after I got home or to the hotel. One night I didn't feel like having a drink after one hour. And I haven't had one since.

Four weeks into My Way Out and 7 Days Alcohol Free.
