Just got home work hated that the day was so long but I know it's better for me. Feeling pretty strong going to walk my little monster since she has been in the room all day. That will take some time. Then I plan on doing the long bath and reading a little. I feel good so far and day two is almost over. I'm so glad I found this place. Everyone is GREAT! I hope everyone is doing well too.

Ceprise,
I found that last night I just kept myself busy and I was ok. I thought about it every now and then but around 10pm I took my pm and went to bed. Slept ok..... Just got home from work so it's good that it was a long day. I travel with a tiny shorkie and she has been here all day so I'll get her out to play and burn some energy. I think I'm going to be ok. Sunday is our day off which means everyone around the pool doing what? Yep! Drinking. Should be interesting.

Hi Karney & welcome!
I would recommend that you Don't take Tylenol PM (or any acetaminaphen - sp?). It has been shown to be bad for liver - which isn't good for drinkers! We don't need any help in destroying liver... :eeks:
I LOVE Advil PM for the same purpose. I try not to use unless I Really haven't slept well for a couple nights... A lot here like melatonin and other natural sleep remedies. (Melatonin never really worked for me.)Sometimes you have to take the leap and build your wings on the way down... Anais Nin

Night Time Sleep Aids
Hi All!
It's not the mixing with alcohol that is dangerous to the liver, it's the exceeding the maximum daily recommended dose of 2,000 mg per day of Tylenol (acetaminophen) that is dangerous to the liver. I know as I use it for arthritis every day and save the last 500 mg for bed time if I need it. Advil (Ibuprofen) has similar restrictions. If you use analgesics for other reasons, find out what the maximum daily dose is before using sleep aids with analgesics. Consult your Doctor or Pharmacist!
People with hangovers (us) would pop multiple pills to feel better, resulting in damage to stomachs, livers, etc.
7 days AF feels much better!
HAVE YOU READ MY WAY OUT?:new: ceprise

Hi Ceprise - Certainly, one should never exceed recommended amount of ANY drug (including vitamins), BUT there is a "special" connection between liver disease and acetaminophen:
"Taking more acetaminophen could cause damage to your liver. If you drink more than three alcoholic beverages per day, talk to your doctor before taking Tylenol and never use more than 2 grams (2000 mg) per day."
Tylenol Information from Drugs.com
I personally do not have liver disease, but I would not take a drug that has been shown to in some circumstances to increase probability of liver damage (when there are alternatives available). I believe it's not just about dosage, but frequency of use.
The problem with ibuprofen & alcohol is more about stomach bleeding (as with aspirin) than it is about liver damage. I don't have sensitive stomach, so I opt for Advil vs. Tylenol. My personal choice after reading info.
I try Not to take any OTC drug - only when Really necessary...
But, yes, if there's a question at all, doctor should be consulted.Sometimes you have to take the leap and build your wings on the way down... Anais Nin

10 Day AF
Dear Karney:
I had to go off the supplements for the finger surgery I had today. Never bite your finger nails or cuticles! My index finger got infected and the nail had to be surgically removed. But I stayed on the Topiramate, And I listen to the CDs every night. I've made 10 days alcohol free.
Did you read Roberta's book? It really gave me hope that I could get out from alcohol. So far it's worked.
Community support has been of tremendous help.:new: ceprise

Hi Karney & ceprise,
Sounds like you're both doing great, congrats
I'm hitting the 5 week mark this week - it only gets better..............
ceprise, I'm from the Philly area also, oringinally Delco, now in Southern Chesco. Traded in the crowds & traffic and now have horses, cows, sheep, etc for neighbors. It's a hell of a culture shock, hah hah.
Continued good luck to both of you.

Welcome cuts!
I've only been here going on 5 weeks. I started by skimming over the posts, looking over the program summary, then downloading Roberta Jewett's book, My Way Out. It is the best $12.95 I ever spent!
Read My Way Out. I am a coward. I could not stop alcohol without help. In My Way Out I found the help I needed.:new: ceprise
