    Back here AGAIN!!

    Hi,

I think this is the 3rd time I have come here and said I want to stop drinking!! That equates to, at least, 2 relapses!

I have just been diagnosed with high blood pressure and prescribed tablets - DH and I think this is my wake up call - this time I am determined to cut down and then give up alcohol.

I am looking forward to making friends, supporting others and being supported and sharing stories.

I am going to check in here at least once a day, the last times I didnt and I think if i had it would have kept me motivated!

For any one reading this, do you have experience of taking perindopril?

    Look forward to chatting

    Back here AGAIN!!

    Hi Rach,
Well done for coming back to sort this thing.
You can do it, and with a bit of support you will find it easier. At least I did.
Can I suggest a few regular threads you might like to check out? Sometimes joining a thread for some support gives you the extra motivation if things get tough..
The Army Thread - General Discussion
The Next Day Thread in General Discussion
ODAT (One day at a time), in Just Starting Out
AF Daily thread in Monthly Abstinence
    Mod Squad in Monthly Moderation
I think thats it for the regular threads.
I dont have any experience of the drug you mentioned, but i am sure someone does.
Anyway, welcome to you and I look forward to seeing you around the boards. Good luck!

            Back here AGAIN!!

            Hi newjen,
Welcome back! I've only been here a few months myself but they have been very successful for me.
I think the trick is to really dedicate yourself, make a good plan and commit yourself to sticking with it. I not only check in daily but several times per day - just to stay tuned in, so to speak. I think it really helps me a lot.

Perindopril is not used here in the States. But it is in the the Class of drugs called ACE Inhibitors, many I have taken for hypertension. They all worked well in lowering my b/p but left me dizzy & lightheaded will a chronic, annoying dry cough. These are typical side effects for this drug class. If you find you have those problems after a few weeks, call your doctor, there are other drugs out there.

Welcome again, I hope to get to know you!

              Back here AGAIN!!

Hi, Like you I keep coming back. Like you I also have borderline hypertension. If I stop drinking then all is fairly normal but don't seem to be able to recapture the strength to go again for 30 days. Back to drinking bottle of wine a night which is really not good enough. It's bank holiday so am going to log on frequently and get at least next 3 days under my belt and hopefully go from there. I've just got an email from a personal trainer saying that we should invest as much love and care in ourselves as in those we love around us. Makes sense - it's probably a fair bet that people who drink just don't love themselves enough - for some reason we don't think we're good enough! Anyhow good luck one and all. Px

I think I will take your advice and reread the book too. I now have kudzu, which I did not have before.

                      Back here AGAIN!!

Good morning newjen, Patricia and Seacailin,

I woke up this morning with this simple thought - 'Better to be here than not'. Everything has been better for me these past 6 weeks - everything!

I agree with Patricia's comment above, we need to learn to love ourselves more and put a stop to self abusive behaviors, now!

I am now a firm believer in MWO and will continue my relationship forever with all of the wonderful, helpful people here. I don't think you could buy better support anywhere. My closest friends and family could not do for me what the MWO community has done. I am forever grateful

Please continue to check in several times daily. It really does help to firm up your commitment and stay on your plan.
Congrats on your successes so far, be it day 1, day 2, whatever. Your AF days will pile up faster than you think

                      All the best,
