      Hi All:

I wanted to :sofa: HIDE from you all because I didn't make the binge this time. Drank last night, and am feeling badly for it. so silly too, didn't seem to be much rhyme or reason for it. Wasn't a particularly bad OR good day in general. Guess I was bored or something equally silly.

My first week on Topa was so good, I got rather a false sense of security I think. I'm hoping that as I titrate up the cravings will recede again...that first week I had 6 out of 7 days AF, now I went 2 days AF before falling away.

But today is Day 1 AF again and I'm still gonna get my 4 days in this week, Wed-Thurs-Fri-Sat. Whew, good thing there are 4 days left for me to get my BINGE ON!

Congrats to everyone who is making the binge. Photo, thanks for bringing Ellie back. She makes me :H

        Hi All,
I'm back on my second Day 2 this week! Had a moment of weakness on Monday evening, during my %$&# withching hour... and drank a bunch of wine, could barely get out of bed and to kids' schools and work Tuesday morning. So Day 1 was yesterday, and I started Campral this morning. I have a reception/dinner thingy tonight. I'm thinking that maybe i shouldn't go, because it's with a group of people who tend to be big drinkers, wine industry types. Maybe too, too tempting... Congrats to everyone on your accomplishments, and no worries coming back Scrubbly. We've all been there!! I feel so good without a hangover. I could get used to this!

Srubbly, I am with you completely. I can drink for any reason or no reason; it is just such a habitual part of my life. Thank you for coming back even though you wanted to hide; this is really good for me as my history has been one of hiding. Like you, Sandy, my witching hour(s), five to eight, are the killers. I am trying to plan ahead activities that are incompatible with drinking for a least an hour or so during that time. Unfortunately at this time of day (4:30 for me) such diversions all seem to pale, but I keep thinking about tomorrow morning. I sure wish this was easier but if it was we wouldn?t all be in this pickle. Looking forward to finding my way out one of these days and hearing about yours.
          may we be well

            Oh lady, sandy and scrubly!

First of all, Scrubly, inkele: nellie says you are more than welcome - she's stayed up especially late (presently 12.15 am UK time and she really MUST get some rest!!!).

But, Scrubly, lady and Sandy, don't be down :upset: You all know you can do it - you've all woken up AL free without that dreaded "OMG, WHY DID I DO THAT?" hangover - and just how GOOD does that feel?:baaah: (sorry, lamby, nellie can't come out to play - she's f*cking knackered from jumping up and down all day!) Now where was I? ... oh, yes, waking up without a hangover - "Priceless"!

So, just picture that now, close your eyes and think just how great it is when you're waking up with NO HEADACHE, NOT FEELING SICK, when you can remember EVERYTHING about last night ... and when you've got all those thoughts in your head pinch your thumb and index finger together really, really really hard and hold that thought - do this a few times when you're walking round taking deep breaths. I use it for a variety of things and have a few times when I was like :teeter: "shall I/sharnt I" with a bottle of wine".

As with anything, though, you've really got to WANT to do it. You've done great before you guys and you can do it again, once you get back into the right frame of mind - you will.

Right, am off to bed myself - :bananacomputer: (will somebody get that f'ing bannana off my computer!)

Have a good day my friends on the left of the pond.

PS - Day 2 of my Nal - going good! 1/2 a glass of white wine which lasted 2 hours. I know, I know "was it worth it" but I didn't open the bottle especially (left from the weekend).

              Hey Photogirl,
Thanks for the little trick! I'll try it at my reception tonight. Great for you modding like you mean it!!

Ladybird - Making diversions helps me too! But not if the diversion involves a lot of wine drinking. But I'll put my thumb and forefinger together and get through it tonight!!

Hi guys. I'm glad I came back too. Sandy I'm crossing my fingers (while you're using Photogirl's ingenious finger idea on your side!). Let us know how it went.

I could sure take a lesson from Lamby and Nellie with all the bouncing about. Exercise is the one part of the program I'm struggling to get going with and would probably do a lot to reduce my stress levels.

Looking forward to a good night's sleep, no hangover tomorrow, and AF Day #2 tomorrow! Good job Photo on the only partial drinks at a time!!

It's Monday, Time for another 4 day AF Binge!

Hello All! I've been kind of on the "DL" lately. My computer is being repaired and won't have it back til the weekend. On hubbies right now, but I much prefer my macbook! (I know, a little snobby, but it's my baby and what I'm used to and I love it!!!!) Haven't read through all the posts, but looks like we have quite a few newbies jumping in..... :welcome: This is such a great thread to get you started. We're so easy!!! Definitely one day at a time, with a bit of a goal in mind to get through the Monday through Thursday hell that it can be sometimes. You know..... those days when you just feel :nutso:, :b&d:, or like :upset:!!! Fortunately, I've been having a pretty good week so far. Very busy at work, so I haven't really even thought about alcohol..... very surprising! To make up for it, I just spent a LOT of money buying furniture online, so I am sure I will want to drink tomorrow when hubby blows his lid when I break the news. Oh well. I'll make it through. It was beds for the kids, so it's not like I was going wild spending money on me. with all the money I am saving on booze, the least I can do is put it towards something they need. Alright....I guess I should try to get some shut eye. Another big day at work tomorrow. Only 2 more days left until Friday. Yippee! Saturday I should have my own computer back. Thanks for letting me vent. Sorry if I rambled a bit.

                      Hi Gang,
I made it!! And the first thing that happened was a glass of wine got shoved in my hand. I tried to give it back, claiming designated driver, but he laughed and said I could have one. So I just carried it around, and drank water with dinner, and a coffee afterwards. I'm wondering if the Campral can already be having an effect. Hmmmm... thanks for your words of encouragement. Day 3, here I come!!!

Good for you Sandy! That's great news! I think the drugs do have a pretty immediate effect, although I don't have experience with Campral. I'm on topa and while I do have urges here and ther and have had to increase my dose, I did feel it worked right away. The side effects alone turned me off from drinking in the beginning. Now I just get that nice effect of not really thinking about alcohol every second of the day. I'd like to have a drink, but it's not an obsession or a priority like it used to be just over a month ago. Happy day #3 to u!!!!

BTW.... anybody hear from Mama Z????? She's been off the radar all week! May have to plan a road trip to PA!!!!!

                          Morning everyone!

Hey, SANDY, :goodjob: - well done you!!! Isn't it great having that "wakey wakey" feeling rather than that "crapy crapy" feeling - well done you! Is your CAMPRAL the same as the NALTREXONE? Do you take it 1 hr before having your 1st drink? If so, I'm on my 3rd day today and I swear to god, I honestly think it's working already. Main thing is to keep taking it - every day even though some days (obviously when you're cleaning that halo!) when you're not intending/having a drink. Keep at it!

RONNIE - I would count having only 2 beers as a R.E.S.U.L.T. so well done Sir! (especially if you've got to get those little pesky kiddies sorted out!!! only joking!:H)

oh, FINALLY! inkele: she's missed you soooooo much! So glad to hear from you. Know what you mean though re your "baby" - am presently typing on my little iBook - if anybody dare go near it, it's like :no!: - step away from the computer! You sound as if you're doing great though - well done! Mind you, it'll be an expensive drink on Friday!:H

Morning SCRUBLY - feeling good this morning with that clear head? Hope so! Just remember that good feeling , get pinching those two fingers together and take some deep breaths whilst remembering just how good you're feeling! Go on, really squeeze them together - that's it! Close your eyes, remember how good you felt with a clear head this morning - now THAT's what you want every morning isn't it?!

Have a good day when you all get up on the left hand side of the pond - 6.30 am over here so I'm up and at it :rays:

Hi RONNIE, well done for only having 2 drinks and then stopping, it's a start. it's up to you if you want to count it as an A/F day or not. Keep trying and don't give up it's worth the effort, think how good you feel the next morning when you have not had a drink. I am with you all the way.

                              Good Morning everyone

Well, it's not been a good morning for me! Alarm didn't go off and didn't wake up til 8.17am!!!!! Kids were up and playing on their DS's, hadn't thought to come and get me up. Guess they were hoping for a day off school!:H So it was rush, rush rush to get them breakfast, dressed in uniform, packed lunch made and to school complete with musical instruments in only 25 short mins. I'm shattered now! We normally walk but I managed to claw back a few precious mins by driving.

Day 3 for me, I always sleep deeper when I'm AF.

Photogirl, what are you and Nellie doing up so early?

Sandywaters, well done with the wine at the reception.

Well done to anyone who's on Day 4. Now, we need to turn our attention to how to get through another tricky weekend!
If alcohol made you happy I should be the happiest person alive! I'm not.

                                Hello everyone:

I loved this thread, sounds like Im not the only one battling during the week to stay sober.
So here I am and have made it to day 3 this week. I hope to make today day 4 AF. I feel great, lost more than a pond this week, since I,m dieting. Actually :-( I am always dieting and working out, but due to wine I had never seen results. Grrrrrr.... I can just imagine the weight I would have gained if I did not exercise like a maniac. Sad how alcohol makes us its slave :-(

Well, here is wishing us all a sober day :-)
