    i want to stop lying

hi, i could use some advise from anyone with some experience with my problem. i went thru an outpt alcohol rehab program in nov 2008, after 12 years of serious drinking. i take campral, attend counselling for alcohol abuse and depression. i have not been able to completely quit drinking. i have 2 drinks about 2 or 3 times a week. i have not been honest with my family about my shortcomings, and i am so ashamed. i need to do this once and for all, i will be so much happier but i keep caving in. will this ever get any easier?:new:

      Hi Buddy!
      Welcome to you.
I stopped drinking completely 10 months ago. I can honestly say yes, it does get easier with time.
I am a much happier and more content person now that I am off that constant self destructive roundabout.
Have a look at the book, you can download it from here or get it from Amazon. Get yourself a plan together and go for it! This is one thing you will NEVER regret doing.
      Good luck

        Welcome BUDDY,

I think it's safe to say that we all are experienced liars here!!! It's the 'nature of the beast'.
The important thing is that you keep trying, do whatever it takes. You deserve to be happy

        Best wishes,

          Hi Bud,

          :welcome:

You have most certainly taken the first step by opening to "strangers" here. Any chance you are having a couple of drinks to keep the suspicions at bay? I could see that happening in certain circumstances.

I went through the same thing as you when I finally told DW that I could not control my drinking and I was amazed at how much she knew already although she had no idea the actual extent of my imbibing. But she had a lot of info already about AL. And the support has been amazing.

Go for it and keep coming back here.
