Little Bit was the nickname my grandmother always called me. She was sweet; very old school. 'Used to cut Campbell's Soup Kids pictures out of magazines and make greeting cards to send to my sisters and me. She passed last year, and it motivates me to think of the kind of life she'd want me to have vs. what kind I might have if I weren't doing this.

I picked 1 DAY as I do not have a drink for 1 day, then the next day I say to myself "I will not have a drink for 1 day" I have now been A/F for 5 months. We all do it what ever way works for us, this way works for me. Hope you all have an A/F weekend.x

Yes it was the name of a very crap 80's band..

But I am also an avid surfer and waving to people on shore is a distress signal..

Metaphorically (as far as my struggle with alcohol and with life goes) Sometimes I am just waving but sometimes it's a signal I'm about to go under..

Does that make any sense?

I'm actually not a frog. I am a Tawny Frogmouth - an Australian bird with the capacity to totally camouflage itself against it's backdrop. I watched the world but it didn't see me. There was a time when I felt totally invisible.
Things have changed.

I had another handle when I first joined but I didn't like it so I was going to change it to 'Shovel', but one of the ladies here thought that sounded like a serial killer (and I didn't want to blow my cover) so she decided that I'd be 'Popeye' as he was my avatar. I couldn't be anyone else now....It's funny.... 'Popeye' is a big part of who I am.

It is difficult for me to ask for help. I needed the reminder that it is OK.

It still isn't easy. And in an odd twist, when I sign in, it can seem that I'm encouraging others to ask me for help, which is the role I'm most comfortable in. Funny how things work out.
