    I love this forum!

    Hey, guys,
Yesterday and today I spent some time in the General Discussion forum, just knocking around, and read a few really harsh and strident posts.... It was a little frightening over there, so I came back.

Is it because we are all new that we support each other and send nice words to each other? I hope to never get so comfortable with this support group that I say mean things. Thanks for ALWAYS being nice to me and all the help you have given. You are wonderful!

I agree Mica. I don?t as yet look there when I am not feeling reasonably strong and self-contained even though I have seen some wonderful things there also. The folks probably have interacted with one another for years and weather such things, but being new I am really afraid of getting embarrassed or confused and not posting anymore. I couldn?t even post here in the initial days when I was withdrawing from the booze; I just froze up. Anyway it?s AF day thirteen for me and a fragile one. I could get run off in a heartbeat. Thank you for being a sweetheart, Ladybird.
    may we be well

Don't worry, kiddos. Things like that happen sometimes because, well, we didn't get here from singing too loud in the choir. I don't like the discord either, and try to just walk away. Try to remember everyone here is super sensitive, for many reasons, physically, mentally, spiritually, and sometimes its hard to control our feelings, or remember that everyone else is as tender as we are. Don't worry, there are mentors to look after the worst problems, and you only have to be concerned with learning, and getting better. Look for people you respect, and ask them, even privately, for help, information, etc. Almost everyone is willing and happy to be there for you.

Not sure what happened in general yesterday but I think the important thing is that you have found somewhere where you are comfy posting and have got a great group of friends supporting you. Isin't it wonderful how we all rally together and form friendships in cyberspace -- I didn't know that was possible till I came here.
Please don't be scared to post and ask questions on other threads -- I remember all to well how nerve-wracking it is to be new to the forum.

              Hi,

I just wanted to say :welcome: to all the newbies here.

Sometimes people post whilst drinking and it can get ugly. I usually just close the thread, myself.

There are a vast number of caring people here.

I am glad you are here and wish you much success on your journeys.

                Good morning everyone,

I noticed some of the harsh attitude in General as well yesterday. Luckily, it's just easy to click out of it and go to a softer, warmer place
I agree with Cinders comment - some of those postings do sound like drunk talk.

I am 7 weeks AF now, very happy and plan to stay involved here foe a long time to come. I am grateful for the community support, could not have done it alone. It feels so good to finally be out of isolation..... there is no one in my life who really understands all the feelings & problems associated with having a drinking problem. All I have ever gotten from friends & family is a lot of attitude & negativity which does not create a healing environment.

I urge all newbies to stay close. You will find support here that you cannot find anywhere else!

                Have a great day.

Thank you, all! You are the reason I am here.

Thanks, to the newbies like me, and to the long term members who responded. I do know that any group of people can have very off days, and because I am also new to cyberspace, just didn't know that it could also happen here. Good to know, and I promise that it won't keep me from exploring in General.

To the subscribers, are there other benefits to subscribing than the friends you have there?

Same experience different time frame . . .

Hi Mica, I had the same experience just after I found this forum. That evening I decided I could be in the wrong place for requesting help. The next morning I received some heart felt PM's and have been returning ever since.

This forum for me has helped me in so many ways. Now when I see a thread with a negative comments I pass by and read other things that are more constructive. The site is enormous so there is lots to learn.

Best of the best to you Mica and everyone here . . . .
