Hi All
It's late Sunday afternoon here now and I've made it through the all times that usually trip me up so I should be right from here on in. Thanks for all being here this weekend, it's made a world of difference. I hope you have all had happy successful weekends too. There's two ways of looking at the holes in your shoes

Hi all,
A year or so ago I had a check up and had my liver function tested as I thought I had liver pain, but it was fine, just muscular, so I went to an osteopath and it's getting better. Turned out I had high cholesterol instead, so I had to watch that, which helped to curb my drinking.
I got the cholesterol down but started drinking again as soon as I got the all clear. Go figure.
It's like I love having something wrong because it gives me the strength to give it up. Weird.
Anyway on day 2 after a sad binge on friday night, that I got over but going to the gym and being good to myself.
This time last week I was hooking into a bottle of white followed by a half a bottle of Pinot. Monday has a hangover and felt sore and sorry for myself. I hate hangovers, I swear, I dread them even when I have that first sip.

Just completed my second weekend AF. I had a slight urge this afternoon as I was having a bad and stressful day and I thought wouldn't a drink be great to relax. Then I remembered that 1 would lead to a binge, and that would lead to me feeling bad about myself and having a hangover tomorrow.
I hope everyone managed to beat those urges.

**Survived Saturday night without horrible results**
Had a house concert last night - did ok with 3 glasses of wine but of course, felt like I could go for more. Fought the urge to keep drinking and went to bed instead. Woke up today feeling ok - not great, but not bad either. Won't have the Monday morning guilt which is good. Looking forward to a better, stronger week!
Congrats to all those who got through the weekend AF -- you deserve a great big hug and pat on the back!!

Thanks for all the suggestions on L-Glutamine. I've been doing 2 grams a day and so far so good. I'm on day 12 AF today and the first 9 were without supplements. I'm impressed with how they help take the edge off. I've backed off the Hershy bars too knowing it was just my body searching for the accustomed sugar that is missing from AL. I hope everyone has had a great weekend and met their intended goal. And, if you haven't, today is a new day and it's still only 24 hours long.

Ezz, Thanks for starting this W/E thread.I have been binge drinking weekends for years.I am OK during the week and then think that I can drink like others at W/E but I know I cant. I am so desperate to stop.Al has rid me of so much.Yesterday,In desperation I went to my doctor and told all. It was a really tough thing for me to do.I am having a Liver A Sound today to see if there is any damage and then I start on Campral tommorrow.I am terrified of failure again. This is my first try on Antiabuse drugs.Hate to sound like a whinger but I am now desperate and need all the support I can get. Thanks so much again and good luck with your own battle with booze :new:iohnoBoozer

Hey, Quittin'Time and Johno, and everyone
Welcome, you guys, to a great site. I have said it before, but I really believe this is the best place for people like us. One step at a time. If looking at a week is scary, go for that 4 day thread, like Ronnie said.:welcome:
I am celebrating making it through Sunday! Usually Sunday afternoons are a big trigger for me, but today, I listened to the hypno cd, and came through it ok! Tomorrow starts Week 3 for me, AF.
Have a lovely week, everyone. Thanks for all the support and friendship!
