    New and confussed

    :new:
I am new and a bit confussed how this all works.
I am having an OK day but i am starting to get a bit frustrated.
Its been difficult to go AF although i have had a day without a drink but think it isnt much of an effort is it.
Can anyone fill me in on how you find the motivation to go AF for evan week.

Hi tenderfield and welcome from another aussie.

Have you read the MWO book? Do you know what your AF goals are?

If at the moment you just want to go AF for a week, take it in baby steps. One day at a time and when it gets too hard just take it one hour at at time.

I don't know what your drinking habits are but some members do use meds to help stop drinking. If you think this may be something you need to do other members will be able to help.

One of the biggest motivations to go AF for one week is that everyday you don't drink you mind will become clearer, everyday you will feel better about yourself.

        Welcome, tenderfield!

Sounds like you have your first goal: to go AF for a week.

Ronnie mentioned the 4-day thread, and that's a good one. Also, ODAT thread (one day at a time)...

As far as motivation, your little :upset::upset::upset: "smilies" speak volumes. Your motivation will be to change those to... !!

(BTW - I had big struggle last week, so I don't mean to say that I'm "there"... or am "cured"!! But I Am learning that life CAN be better while sober.)

          Hi tenderfield

I'm new on here too and had nothing to drink since Saturday night and not even wanted to. At the moment, just reading what people say on this and realising so many people are in the same position as me has been very motivating for me. Also, I am sick to death of hangovers and wasting my life.

Keep posting on here and letting us know how you're doing. I've found the people on here to be so sweet, kind and honest.

          :thanks: to MWO

            Hi Tenderfield,

Welcome and congrats on your first day!

I found my motivation automatically increasing as each AF day passed. That happens when you suddenly realize you are feeling so much better, hangover free for the first time in years. As your thinking clears you begin to realize that you no longer need to dwell in the hole you pushed yourself into years ago. In other words, the longer I am AF the brighter the light is - the fresher the air is and I just want it to continue.

I'm happy and just want to stay that way

Hang in there, you won't be sorry,

Welcome, Tenderfield. One day AF is a tremendous effort for some of us...especially starting out! Don't underestimate that success! It means you know how to do it and have something to build on! I'm pretty new and struggling to even achieve that! See you around...

                      Hi Tenderfield,

Glad to hear that you ordered the tapes and Kudzu, I suggest you use all the vitamins suggested in the MWO book. Alcohol depletes your vitamins/minerals and you get stronger cravings. L-Glutamine works wonders if put under the tongue during a craving.

Stay in touch and keep us posted.
