        Hello again,
Day two for me. Great to hear the positive things about Al. Free living. I feel better physically but a lot of emotional stuff going on. The way I'm managing evenings is hanging on to two things.
        1. This forum and blogging
        2. Sitting and relaxing on my own upstairs with a large box of fruit smoothies.

I figure this is still fairly pricey but a less expensive way of making a change!
        wish my luck

Hey gang! It's a drizzly, gray day here; good for cleaning closets. So, I tackled my clothes closet. I culled out a few things, but I think I could probably do some more, so I'm going back at it tomorrow! I am a person who does not like clutter, in general. My house usually looks great...but my closets? That's another story! I might have to hire someone to help me out!

Best thing about today was waking up without a hangover, and enjoying another AF day!

Hang in there, startafresh! You're doing great. I like your strategies!

            Hello there,
It is good to clear out closests sometimes. Sometimes for me it is a good way of practising mindfulness.

I'm on DAY THREE now. Glad to wake up this morning AF. No headache, a bit tired, but ate a good breakfast. Was going to go out but it is raining so will do the hoovering and go a bit later.

Thank you everyone for all your support.

              Good morning everybody!! Happy Sunday!

              Startafresh, it only gets better!

Yesterday, some of my girlfriends and I went to the beach and it was a beautiful! It stormed inland allday, but the coastal breeze managed to keep the clouds off of the beach. Fabulous!

My friend was people watching and kept commenting on her weight and that others were probably looking at her like she was looking at them. (???)

Almost all of our unhappiness is the result of comparing ourselves to others.

We are all unique and should celebrate that! What a boring world it would be if we were all the same! I would like to start the day by sharing a few things that I like about ME!

              I love my green eyes!
I love my hair, it is thick and has natural body and beautiful!
              I love my strong arms!
I love my STRONG personality and outspokenness (sp?)
I like that as I get older, I get smarter!
I love that today, I am sober!

I would love if everyone else would share things they like about themselves, because it is inspirational to hear!

              Have a great day guys!

                    The Halfway thru May Thread!

Welcome, Nomad! :welcome: Congrats on 8 days! I completely understand what you mean when you say:
I'm starting to realise just how delusional my booze addled actions have been over the years. The very topic has crossed my mind more than a few times this weekend. We ought not dwell on that, but need to keep those thoughts nipping at our heels to keep us moving forward. At least, that's what I hope to do.

Hey, Lavande, I got loads of clutter here to deal with, so you must dive into your drawers and closets for yourself. Sorry. I know you have the grit to do the job though! You're one tough woman.

Sheri, I have never heard that saying before: As the saying goes, "clear your clutter, clear your mind," and I think it's so true!
I totally agree that it is true!

Cat, thanks for a good question. It's not one I think of very often. But, I like that I am basically kind, I'm curious, and I like to learn.

For now, I wish you all a great day! Keep up the good fight!

Hello everyone, and best to you. Really appreciate the feedback. Haven't worked out how to do that reply to comments thing yet.

I'm on DAY 4 now. (well done NOMAD and the rest) Have just explained to someone close to me who has a birthday tomorrow that it is a good idea not to go down to the pub, so looking for alternative things to do. Very much like music 'happy girl'. Reminds me of my little girl. She is appreciating it that I am not so moody in the mornings (due to too much booze the night before). This is really important to me.

I think I'm a good mum, but I'm tackling this thing about alchohol not really being a treat. How could I have thought that? Your brain gets warped, doesn't it? How can something that makes you feel bad physically aftewards be a 'treat'. Still, I'm working out how to 'treat' myself, in other ways. It sounds really stupid, but I dont' think I know how yet.

I liked the comment someone made about addiction being like the beast in the Alien film. It is part of you, but not a part that looks after you or encourages you.

In the last half hour I've been getting a bit despondent about needing to learn new things for my work and things in the house not being tidy enough. But stopping booze will help me won't it? I will be able to think clearer and have more time and energy to make things beautiful and orderly.

take care everyone and thanks for your support

Well, today wasn't too bad but this afternoon has been a doozie! Just had a blowout about who gets what and the finances! whew! fun....

Just please Lord, help me through this...Day 138

                              Hi guys

Do you mind if I join you? I just had a look at my drink tracker and realised that the last day of May will be my 28 AF. I want to hope in now and commit myself before my mind starts play games on me.

I am in awe of you guys with triple digits on your af days. Amazing.

Yes, Start, you will have more energy and time to get things done. I too have to learn new things at work all the time. Don?t stress over it. It will come after you get a little time and practice with whatever it is. For me, it?s usually computer related stuff!

To do the quote thing: highlight the part you want from the person's post, copy it, then paste it into your message window. Highlight it again. Then go to the bar at the top of the message window and click on the icon that looks like a text bubble. Voila!

Hey, SD, glad to see you joined up with the thread! I don?t know if I could say that alc ever ?reved? me up, but I certainly have had my share of it while doing household chores! Not proud of that though.

Cat, it?s chilly here, too. We lost some plants to frost on Sunday night: our sweet potatoes!! I?m sorry to hear you had a difficult afternoon yesterday. I hope you can get the unpleasant stuff behind you as quickly as possible. It?s so great that you are able to maintain your AF status. I know it?s tricky at times, but it is so worth it! Curious: does your hb drink? Mine does not. That's a blessing. My drinking has been a problem in our marriage, actually.

Welcome Ezz! :welcome: Glad to have you along. We can use all the help we can get! And we would love to help you, too.

Sheri, thanks for the great description of the vicious cycle. I think exhaustion was one of my triggers, too. One of many. To tell you the truth, it doesn?t take much! Nice day, rainy day, difficult day, easy day, company coming, house to myself, etc...That's just the beginning! :H

Off to work with me. Day 6.
