Can anyone tell me what their gamma gt levels are . i have just had my bloods done and the gamma was 127. doc is referring me for scan. very worried

That is a test to check for liver disease, or disorders of the bile ducts, or kidneys. Drugs that raise GGT levels do include alcohol, and nothing else that you are likely to be taking, like phenobarbitol for instance. Normal range = 0-51. Above normal range basically suggests there is something happening in the liver. It is what we all are afraid of. It is that policeman's knock at the door. I am always afraid when someone wants to draw blood for something. I don't know what your particular level means, though. But I think it's a message to stop drinking right away today and never start again. Your note was a big blast of reality because it could be me, too, and might be, if the doctor got the bright idea to include that test in a battery of blood work. I have been kind of hiding from him for a while.

Hello again, and P.S. I did an online search to find out more about GGT level at 127 like yours. There are some other factors that can elevate these levels, but whatever, this needs to be followed up like you are doing. I read a post by a fellow on another site whose level was at 650. He was very worried, naturally, but posted again after several months sober and said he was now back in the normal range. So I thought to pass that along too. Your situation really woke me up.
