    A BRAND NEW 30 DAYS..ANYONE UP 4 IT ?

Howdy, just checking in for Sunday.

Fab Abs, day 22, that is AWESOME! I'm so glad for you, you are definitely going to make it another 8 days now. And your bike ride this morning sounds great....I'm too far from any coast for that sort of thing, but I do have the mountains nearby and enjoy those when I can.

Mom2, I also have found myself doing more eating at times, but I agree that I'm not overly worried about it since being AF is more important for now. I also figure that I was probably adding about 500 calories or more a day in wine before, PLUS whatever junky snacks I would eat when I stopped caring about my diet once I'd had a few glasses of wine...

I read one lady on this site a while back who said she had lost about FIVE STONE over about a year's time, just from quitting AL. For those of us not in metrics, that is about 70 pounds. YIKES!!! So I'm really not too worried about my eating for the moment!!! :H

I'm on day 29, can hardly believe it!

      Hello all,

I have been away for a while, and hope now to be back. I was AF for about twenty five days, and then went back to the habit (but not as bad as before).

I suppose I am gradually trying to change my attitude. Feel as if I would benefit from staying AF again so hoping I can try again. Feel a bit of a failure, but true to my name, will just have to startafresh, eh?
      thanks for listening.

        Welcome start!

Your 25 days are a real accomplishment, you should be proud of that. It is proof that you can do a long stint of AF. And it's good to know that you "weren't as bad as before" this time around too. Change is hard, and we're glad you're back!

We are all on different "days" here for our AF, some on single digits, some on double, so climb aboard!! :welcome:

Count me in too I am on day 9 AF, I can't moderate, as soon as I have one drink I'll start up again. I've tried before I don't miss it as much if I don't have it at all.

          Thanks

Hi Starta, I remember you from when I first came here. You were one of the people who inspired me to "get with the program." Welcome back! The wagon just keeps on rolling and there are plenty of hands to pull you back onto it. It's good to see your post again! See ya round.

              Hi 30 Dayers!

I have to confess that I caved in and have been drinking over the weekend. So I blew my 30 days on day 19. But, I haven't gone mad and actually was very restrained, especially at the family BBQ yesterday. When I got back from the BBQ in the early evening I didn't open another bottle like I would have done in the past. On Saturday I had 1 glass of red wine with dinner and then stopped. I think the suppliments have taken away the enjoyment of the alcohol as I certainly didn't get 'my drinking head on', the urge to drink til I dropped was not there!

I intend to be AF until the weekend when we have friends staying. While they are here I will drink moderately if at all.
If alcohol made you happy I should be the happiest person alive! I'm not.

                    Hi everyone!

Taz and Fabs, you are nearly there, I am so proud of you both, you are doing GREAT!!! :wd:

Blue, don't be too hard on yourself, you made 19 days straight, that is nothing to sneeze at, and like you said you did better than you would have on the days you drank, so things are getting better. We look at PROGRESS NOT PERFECTION. If we were here for perfection, I would not have come back to MWO after my DUI, which really broke up my good string of modding, and I would not have my 31 days now! :l

Sparrow and Starta, how are you doing! Welcome aboard....

Mom2, how are things? Lilbit, hope you are well also....

Onward and upward my friends!!! :laughmonkey:

Hiya Scrubbs and everyone. 'Still doing well -- I'm somewhere around 50 days AF even though I've been AWOL from the thread. Nice going to you, Taz & the rest. We're closing in on the 30-day mark. I hope to make it to 90 days AF, just for my poor, grateful body. 'Have to admit that there are still a few days when I feel yukky, almost as if I'm hungover (but I'm not) and sometimes the cravings still hit hard, although those days are fewer and farther between. I guess it's just part of the process of healing. Anyone else have those days?

                        Hey Lilbit....

I haven't had many physical cravings, some psych ones though. And the most of the 'hangover-y' kinds of stuff has been fatigue for me, but I've been so stressed out about my legal situation and stuff going on it could be more stress related than AL related.

Can I ask, it's probably out there somewhere on other threads, but what was your history on your AL quantities and frequency prior to your 50 days??...which is INCREDIBLE work by the way!!!! :woot: I wonder if that has something to do with the lingering effects or something...then again our systems are all so different too.

You will make your 90 days, I just know it. I will hang in there with you, because my goal is actually to be AF for the duration....yep, I'm done with AL for good. It's been a tough decision, but I'm thinking of myself now as just a non-drinker. I've been doing a lot of reflection during this 30 days, and have figured out that AL just does nothing for me, and can't see going back to any drinking at all. And I know from my own experiences from modding, and reading so many other horror stories from others, that modding is way too hard, so I'm just making the leap and going to take that AL-free road.

                        Hope everyone is doing well!

Hi Scrubbs, yes, it's a fair question. I drank like the proverbial fish before my 50 days! :hitme: 'Was trying to mod on my own before I knew what modding was. No plan, no supps, no meds, no support -- just trying to keep the beast under control through sheer willpower. If anyone out there is trying that, you know how tough that is. It's all you think about. I wound up averaging 1/2 to 3/4 bottle of wine every weeknight and TONS of wine/champagne on the weekends -- sometimes 3 bottles in a day. 'Had been drinking that way for about 5 years, and had literally had only one (count it - one!) AF day in the last 15 years. So I guess my body will take some time to get over it, huh? That's the prob with us here in the good ol' US -- we want instant gratification on everything!!

Like you, I don't see myself ever being able to mod successfully, even with the supps and the support that are now so important to me. I'm looking at a 90-day AF goal as the next step, but I see it continuing forever. It's just so much better this way. It's a real life as opposed to a mere day-to-day existence. So, onward and upward for us!

Hey Lilbit....Thanks for the reply....I agree, we all want that INSTANT FIX and it ain't gonna happen.

You are doing great though, and we will get there! I have been posting some really long (and probably boring) stuff on the monthly abstinence board about saying goodbye to AL forever and a bit of grieving/bit of overwhelm that I've been feeling, but it's strengthening my resolve to just be a non-drinker. I know it sounds overly simplistic, but it's a label that sounds much easier than worrying about whether or not I can mod, for how long, etc. and it makes a commitment to those around me to just quit offering me drinks too. More of a no-brainer, which helps me now!

I got some interesting input from some longer-termers in that area that you might find helpful too....

Thanks, Scrubbs. The "forever" thread was great. 'Answered a lot of my questions about how people transition from quitting AL to being non-drinkers. I already have six months and then a year marked in my calendar, meanwhile, it's ODAT.

                                How's everyone else holding up?
