    A BRAND NEW 30 DAYS..ANYONE UP 4 IT ?

Hi everyone...Saturday morning here...I'm on day 27...wooohooo!! 3 to go.
Taz u still with us mate....or up to your kness in mud at Glastonbury??
Scrubbly....how did u feel on your 30 days??...I se your going for another 30...is that right or r u abstaining for good?
LilBit...your amazing going for 90 days...Did you try a drink after your 30 days...or have you just carried on.
I want to do another 30 days after this one....then another 30....thats my goal, but one step at a time eh!!
A friend of mine who is also a highly medically qualified, said it would take at least 10 weeks for the liver to recuperate after the years of abuse I have given it...and thats only a start!! It would be a shame to poison it again, after all the good work.
But after my 3 lots of 30 days AL I want to mod....but that will be harder than abstaining...I know....but not going to worry about it yet....just get to my goal first.
Well done every one......Have a wonderful AF weekend xxxx:goodjob:

Fabs, only 3 days to go by the time you read this (probably 2 now since you are on the other side of the world) :wd:

Getting to 30 days felt pretty good, but not quite what I expected since by the time I got there I had decided to go AF for the duration. So it wasn't like I had "finished" something at that point. It was just the beginning.

I now consider myself a non-drinker, and am going at this thing with that in mind rather than just "hoping" for the best or trying to mod or anything. I find that with my personality if I give myself an inch I will take a mile when the tough times hit when it comes to AL.

I agree with you too though, that getting to the short term goals you have in mind is another way of looking at it, and we are all motivated differently and it's very important to know ourselves and how we tick, in order to make this stuff work and get to a place that we can all be comfortable with, whether that means moderation or AF.

That is the magic of MWO, there is not a ONE SIZE FITS ALL approach here!!

Fabs, after my first 30 days, we went to a wedding in Napa (geez, quite the temptation, huh?) and I had planned to try modding that night, but ended up only having two sips of champagne for the toasts. Like you, I was ready to continue with the next 30 days, and the next... I can't imagine ever returning to the chard-sucking alchie that I was before! It already seems like a different life, one that I look upon now with horror and amazement.

I'm so glad that you mentioned your medi-friend's comment about it "taking 10 weeks" (at a minimum) for the liver to recuperate. I was just moaning to Scrubbs in an earlier post that I still have a day, now and then, when I feel generally tired and "hungover" even though I've had no AL, and sometimes I still have the odd intense craving. It helps to know I'm not weird (at least, not in that way). :nutso: From reading the other threads by people who have been AF for a long time, it sounds like AL is forever lurking and waiting to pounce, but that it just gets better and easier from here. Here's to us!

I think so but I'll let you know tomorrow. Just had a glass of wine so really would need to start tomorrow. Have 2 weeks holiday coming up which will make it hard.

Not going anywhere exotic - I wish!! I'm a teacher so I'm off work for the school hols. May have some day trips here and there though and will get some stuff done round the house.

I am new to this and have not gotten on board with the program; just glad to find a forum where people like myself are struggling with either abstinence or moderation. I tried to start the 30 day absitence and last night had 6 oz of wine which I consider moderate so I quickly decided to go moderation since i have failed at absitinence already.. I'll see how it goes but by the sounds of it it's a lifetime struggle and it's easy to fall back on drinking heavily. For me heavy drinking is the daily sharing of a bottle of wine with a little more on the weekends. I know it doesn't sound like much but I am a small person (under 5 feet and under 130 pounds) so I believe that it's harmful. The struggle for me seems to be as difficult as it is for you 2 bottle a night people. I would do anything to have a little more willpower. Anyways this site is the best thing that has happened to me and I love it.
