    help scare me/us straight

Rejuv - no, don't drive for a living. Just lately was turned down for a nanny position which would've involved light driving. Also, other interviews have gone really well, then nothing ... After quarter-century in the workforce, I feel pretty well attuned to when an interview went really well. I suspect my 1.5 y.o. DUI is the difference.

In this economy expect that any background-check problem will be an issue. Meaning, what might have been over-looked 3-4 years ago won't be overlooked now.
    Do you think so?
Sorry you're having trouble -- especially yours 12 yrs ago ... mine is still pretty fresh. ugh. Not used to this; was always a "super-star". Best.

Puddytat, we will be around on the long weekend to read and listen and get you through...you can do this!!

Gear, please learn from the mistakes of others. We all wish we could take back the errors in judgment we made the times we were caught doing what you have done too. DUI laws have become really inflexible and harsh, they are punishing first time offenders in ways that would not have been believed even 15 years ago, I can tell you that. No more slap on the wrist...this crap is sticking with you for a good long time now, and they are SERIOUS about it.

:l Puddytat. You are a superstar to us and it will get better the more distance you have from the event. I do a lot of work in personnel stuff and at least where I am, we will listen to someone's explanation of what is on the background check....and if someone can say that it is a one time mistake, that they changed their life afterwards, never happened again, etc. that goes a long way for us.

Hi everyone fighting to win - I'm thinking of you all. I feel much better today after a real low yesterday - had an barely manageable day with lots of anxiety. Puddy, you really are a star. I hope you find a job really soon.

This video is very "scared straight" and not funny at all. Be warned, it is GRAPHIC. It is fiction but sadly this scene plays out every day. It definitely makes me think about the other consequences of driving drunk.

Scrubbles, hey - thanks for advice re: how personnel will view this issue on the background check. And you're right about how it sticks -- it'll be on my record for 55 yrs - I'll be dead by then! used to fall off the record after 5 yrs.

Gear - been watching these YouTubes! don't want to be there...no way! stay strong

Scrubbs - you're doing so well - big congrats to you, and to 42Cat too, on getting thru the last 30 days and all your active support. :clapclap:

Jessie my friend, you're one day ahead of me. Hoping the Beast doesn't get the better of us this weekend :teeter:

Gearhead, I SHUDDER to think that I have often driven so drunk that I saw double lines in the middle of the road when there were only one. With children in the car. I feel sick on my stomach to think of it. I realize that a new awareness is slowly settling into my thick skull - I totally played down the extend of my drunks - simply denied it to myself and others. Looking at the drunk scene videos makes me cringe...
Puddy, I listen to the Wine into water video whenever I remember - I watch Christian videos and the crash scene ones, I plan long walks over the weekend and have a new supply of green tea. With our plans ready and hand in hand with whoever wants to join us we will become free. I really believe that.
                  Sending you all love.
I'll be in touch over the weekend.

Recipe for disaster and major pain:

Take vast amounts of Red Wine
                    Add 1 X balcony
Throw in 1 X split pole fence far below
Mix together and you will get:

Well Glass, all back to normal now thanks.

It was definitely the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. That was my turning point, the ubiqitous (in our world at least) "hitting rock bottom" literally and figuratively.....

Hope you are having a great Sunday!
