Hey, Cacky. thanks for asking ... um, it didn't go well this weekend. I took a drink to help with the shakes, and then .. just... kept going. then fell and twisted my knee again. Basically, think I'll just "lurk & learn" until I manage to string together at least a few days ... hope that doesn't seem too selfish. it just feels so humiliating to be this much out of control.

glad you're staying strong, Cacky, on your 30 day AF effort, and all others who are staying strong.

my sister's husband is out of town an upcoming weekend, and she offered to help with tapering (since I obviously can't trust myself) also Baclofen wil arrive soon, and then will be with my Gram end of month. Ugh, this is so hard, but as people here have showm, it's doable.

P'Tatt ... I lurked for about two years .... It's not selfish at all - you gotta do what works for you in the moment, as you think things through, deal with life, and try to make your plan. That said, please don't feel humiliated. I couldn't even try to count the times that I've attempted to get "on track", only to give in to the bottle again. And I know most of us here could say the same.

Just don't go away. It's OK to be quiet if you need to be, but don't go away. Don't give up. Post when you can. Your answer to being happier is out there ... Stick around.

As Cat expressed, consequences are not just legal ... which tripped me up so often in my early attempts to quit drinking. I had no legal consequences in treatment, so it was as if I was a lightweight -- or a wannabe -- and not taken seriously.

So Cat, thank God you are taking care of yourself and realizing the physical consequences in midlife (I'm 45 y.o.)

GolfPro -- my God -- just what little you've written (given you said you could write pages) it sounds horrible. Horrible enough to drive you to drink. No kidding. It seems the further we sink, the less we come up out of it.

Thank you both for sharing your consequences. I'll share mine, too.:thanks:
hi Puddycat.im new to this site, i got caught a few years back for drink drivin ,when the police pulled me up i had 3 flat tyre. id hit the kerb so many times , i was really lucky i did nt kill some one. i walked to work after , so i had to get up earlier ,i used to jog with a friend that dont drive so that stopped ,i could nt pick her up, and not been able to take my kids to school or give them lifts , i could go on and on , its not worth it, im now applying for work in ireland ,and i think it been on my licence may put folk off , who can blame them ,

By God Peaches. When I was drinking I thought about the noose a lot, but your friend's way seems somehow much more violent. I feel for u and him.
BTW. I wouldn't worry about an odd DUI. I've got 3 and have worked around the world with no problems.
