Today I start over again.. anyone want to join me?

Kimberley- That is so funny. I have been known to dream up similar concoctions. The last time I was sick I got Chinese herbs from my acupuncturist. I had to make a detoction of the herbs and it stunk up the entire house (my boyfriend had to get a fan set up or he was out of here) and then drink it all in 2 days. It was the most foul tasting brew I have ever encountered but it kicked my cold fast. Good luck!

Grim- Your documentary sounds really interesting. Are you only in S.A. for work then or do you live there too?

Everyone- Tomorrow is the one week anniversary of our starting over thread. Progress! Anyone new want to join us? Its not too late to get in on this action! Ha ha. Don't be shy!

OK. Really, its time to start my day and stop fooling around here.:h

Oh wow - time really does fly when you're having fun. Well, I'm not exactly having fun - I'm ill and now I also stink of garlic! Still, it beats feeling hungover/in withdrawal. I think we will all be due some congratulations tomorrow!

Kimberley, you are so right in what you say. ANYTHING beats feeling hungover/in withdrawal!

Wow. It was so great going to an out of town party and not having to worry about how many drinks I have had through out the day and if I am sober enough to drive. Also great to have a clear head while talking to numerous relatives who I see only once every few years. Even better, I am not hung over so there is no reason to worry about getting through my work day tomorrow. So many reasons to choose to live instead of drink!

Last day out of control: 6/21/09

                Hi, All

I am so impressed by what I've been reading on this thread. Well done to all of you!!!!

I've been making good progress on tapering my intake, and the next goal I'm working towards is to have my 1st AF day in over 15 years, so hopefully I'll be able to make my big announcement on here before too long!

Take care and stay strong - you are an inspiration to others.

Good for you Tip - can't wait for your announcement. By the way, I love your avatar. "Tigger" became my ma's nickname for me after I cut down on the drinking and - good god, how did this happen? - finally became happier! Love it!

                    Congratulations

:goodjob: I was so happy to see you all made it through the weekend. Good for us! Congrats Liath on your paper and hope you're feeling better Kim. I had a great weekend - took my sons and volunteered to clean up a vandalized, abandoned veteran's cemetery. Husband came home and it was a relief to find him totally supportive and forgiving of the incident. Naltroxen still doesn't seem to work (4th) day. I'm trying to do things I would never do without drinking - like weekly ironing and it really sucks. Drinking always seemed to make it actually pleasant. But - your reminders to enjoy the feeling of not being hungover makes it better. Here's to a great week gang. (Toasting with Red Bull). PS - If you enjoy reading there's a great book that was a bestseller in the 70's called "The Cracker Factory". You would so relate to it.

It's the chance of a lifetime, in a lifetime of chance - and it's hightime to join in the dance....

Yeah thats the best part of not drinking is not having a hangover.
I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.

Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.

Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.

Starting over too. Was doing great last week, made it through whole week without drinking. Started drinking Friday night and was buzzed all weekend. Hate myself for it. Would have had a much better weekend without Al.

I too am starting over again today. I was doing very well for a while, had a personal crisis, and slowly slipped back into it. I binge drank yesterday and once again embarrassed myself. Having a problem with alcohol is not my fault, picking up the first drink when i know where it will take me IS my fault. I have to be accountable and do what I know in my heart is right.
Why can't I just drink like a normal person?!?!

Gearhead - Did the exact same as you and am extremely disappointed in myself. Got severly yelled at by spouse and not sure how we left off. I need to make it through one weekend!

                              Sharky, gearhead, LBoogie-

Sorry you all have to start over today, but you came to the right place! I was in your position exactly one week ago when I started this thread.

A wise person told me today that a slip up (i.e. bender) does not erase all of the progress I made previously. The important thing is to figure out what triggered it and how to avoid it next time. For me, for now, that amounts to avoiding AL for the most part. I am sipping mineral water right now and posting instead of drinking.
