    40 days tomorrow!

Just a quick check-in. Tomorrow will be my 40th day AF. :thanks:

The last 5-6 weeks have been an interesting journey for me. I've gone from drinking 2+ bottles of wine each and every day, to quitting cold turkey on May 16. At first, taking it one day at a time, thinking about drinking most days, and having to restrain from buying alcohol. Now, 40 days later, I barely think about alcohol, and I honestly don't feel tempted to have a drink.

I know that alcohol is something that will never be in my life again, and I'm ok with that - in fact - I'm happy about it. Very happy. Happy to be enjoying life again, going to bed with a clear head, waking up every morning feeling refreshed, looking and feeling human again. No more hangovers (I'm aching just thinking about them!), no more excuses, no more hiding empties, no more lying, no more wasting my life away.

Life is truly too short and too precious to spend another moment drunk.

Thank you all for your support,
    --Steve

Congratulations! Sounds like you're feeling awesome! I'm only a couple of weeks into being sober, so still getting there. I love that you don't think about AL much anymore!

Yes, it feels great that the urge has gone. In fact, I just realized this morning that I hadn't thought about alcohol for the past week.

              Stay strong,

Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

Great work, and good attitude, Steve. Have you read the 'Gratitude vs. Deprivation' rave? I think it's in the 'toolbox' thread, in 'monthly abstinence' section. Bravo!

Every day is a day to start over and remember that I am powerless over my addiction. I will no longer give the BEAST any power over me - he can go straight to hell.

                            It's about starting

                            Hey Steve
For me - It's about starting not about quitting - Starting to do the things I stopped doing because of drinking. I Just spent a week with my sister trail riding in Saskatchewan. I couldn't have done that drunk!!
                            Keep it up

Your post is soooo inspirational! I have about 40 days until a big race, and really would like to not drink anything until then, but I don't have alot of faith in myself these days. Your success and good feelings are exactly what I want - I feel almost envious!!! Ha!! I must remember, when I feel weak, the wonderful posts here by happy, successful people and try to be just like you!!!!
