    July Jamboree

Hi peanut, good luck with the dragon races - your injury sounds very painful. Hope it doesn't prevent you having great success

Pnut, OUCH! I hope you feel better soon. That sounds so painful! Best of luck on the dragon races. Super Ventricular Tachycardia: SVT is a heart beat gone wild. I don't remember how fast it was, but it was scary fast. Like I said, I thought it was a heart attack. Hasn't happened since then, but I have become very careful and aware of stimulant intake! Good for you on keeping alc and antihistamines separate!

Sooty, welcome back! I have been thinking about you and wondering if you would be back. Glad you are!

Pamina, I don't know where July went. And I am looking for where June went, too! Time is flying. I can totally relate to your project of going through clothes and deciding what to keep and what to let go. That is really hard for me, for some reason. Hope it went OK for you!

Lav, You are so right about the dangers of mixing alc with OTCs. I get it now!

Opal, good to see you. Glad you are back.

Busy, busy, busy today! Hello all,

Hope everyone had a great day. I'm jumping through hoops trying to get my house ready for Sunday. My grandson is being Baptized and his parents had planned an outdoor luncheon afterwards. Well, looks like the weather will not be cooperating. Their very, very tiny house will not hold the number of people expected so........yeah, the party will be here. I didn't know all this until this afternoon. I'm glad to be able to help them out, hope I can get this place ready

Hi Pamina, no turtle sightings here today, how about you??
Hi Sooty, glad you're back with us. AF is the way to go!
Pnut - so sorry about your Boo Boo. Hope the races go well.
Dill, we're coming close to the end of July. What are we going to call ourselves next month? Maybe we should have a name the month contest
        Have a great night everyone!

Hi Jammers! Aren't sober Saturdays grand? Opal, your trip sounds like it was really wonderful. I wonder if I'll ever see Ireland...

Lav, I don't know what to name next month. Contest is a good idea. I'm just wondering if I am going to be able to keep posting regularly on it though because I start back to work this week. I post on 3 threads regularly, as you well know, and I don't know if I'll be having the time for 3. If I do, I'll maybe be keeping it brief. I need all the motivators I can get, so I know it's a good idea to start another monthly thread. And it has helped me immensely.

            Hey Jammers,

A quick hello to all, have all sorts of things to do today (will keep me out of trouble)

Opal, so glad you enjoyed Dublin. I loved it there, would go back anytimee! Your trip will be a great memory for your little one!

Dill, a daily infusion of motivation is a wonderful thing, even if it is just a quick check in! I like to feel that we are somewhat accountable to one another at this point. Although I'm feeling somewhat confident in myself and my ability to remain AF, I never want to get to the point of complacency. That would be dangerous territory for me, messing up could happen in the blink of an eye - and I don't want to do that. I hope you can reserve 5 minutes/day to stay tuned in, have loved getting to know you

OK, lets get the contest started! Anyone have an idea on a name for our August group????? Guess we have to come up with a prize for the winner too

            Wishing everyone a great day!

thanks for the welcome back Dill and Lavande - its good to be here I can tell you! Having a good Saturday and feeling good.
Funny that you said that about the name for August Lav - I was just trying to think of a word beginning with A and can't find any inspiration!! I'll work on it and come back with some suggestions. Got to pick my daughter up in a min so back in a couple of hours.
By the way what's the prize? A hangover free future will do me!

Hi Sooty! Don't worry, you are not alone! I am haveing a nice, hang over free Sunday morning. Hope you are, too. I woke up feeling gratitude for being AF today and hope to carry that feeling forward through the day. What are you up to today? I have no plans at the moment other than just quiet for the most part. Probably some reading and some long distance phone calling to family. I may also do some target shooting with Mr. Dill. I am not especially fond of this activity, but he really wants me to learn and practice gun safety and handling. I have been going along with it, but have suggested to him that since I took up his hobby that he ought to take up one of mine and that I would be teaching him basic knitting very soon! You should have seen him squirm!:H

Hi dill and lavande, I went to the gym and worked really hard. Its good to be AF on a rainy, windy Sunday. Feeling lazy now though but what the heck .... its a good feeling when it comes from doing something instead of drinking and doing nothing!
Hope you've both had happy Sundays.

                        Hi Jammers!

Sooty! I'm here too. I haven't been on that much the last couple of days - been very busy. You are doing so well - you deserve a calm, lazy, feeling-good day!

Did the Dragon Boat Races yesterday - I am so brown now!!! 31C and clear skies - I was roasting most of the day, and we were out there for about 7 hours. We didn't win anything, but it was really such fun. I raised $100 for the Heart and Stroke foundation, and given the number of participants (over 40 teams, approximtatly 20 people per team), all with pledge sheets, the foundation probably made alot of money. They also did a free CPR session, which BF and I participated in - so benefits all around. Good thing to know, that CPR!!!

Funny Dill - teach that guy to knit!!! I must say, that is one skill I never did pick up. I tried a couple times, but just made a mess of it! My boy wanted to learn to knit a couple years ago, so I got him a little booklet and some white wool. He was such a crazy thing at the time, wanted to knit a white body suit at the time. Ok!!!!!! To each his own!!!!! (he never did in the end - thankfully he is not that weird!!!)

Lavande - still raining there? I think your rain has finally come up here. After such a hot day yesterday, and many days rain free, it is kind of a relief to have that moisture out there!! My garden is happy and fortunately, after the races yesterday, I weeded and took weeds out of my lawn and mowed, so the rain came at the right time!.

So everyone have a wonderful AF sunday -a the month is almost over! It hasn't been very successful for me, but I do get AF days in and plan on staying AF until my big race next weekend, and then we will be in August!

Hi to all the other Jammers out there, you know who you are, buddies!
Enjoy the relaxing day - I will too!
                        xoxo peanut

Peanut lovely to see you and well done on the dragon race. Hope the thumb wasn't too much of a handicap. Lucky you having nice weather we're practically under water here and its getting beyond a joke.
But another AF day under my belt so feeling good.

Pnut, that sounds like a great day and a truly good cause. Proud of you! So, your big race is finally here! I know you can stay AF for the rest of July. You can do anything you set your mind to!

Lav, how did the Christening go?

I practiced the gun safety/shooting today and hit the bulls-eye for the first time ever! I don't enjoy shooting, but heck! That felt like an accomplishement!

                              Hi Dill, Sooty and Pnut,

We had a hot sunny day here for the grandbaby's Christening. Thunder storms rolled in just after everyone left. He was a good boy in church, slept thru most of the 11 am service (his usual nap time). He awoke abruptly when the Pastor poured the cool water on his head, of course. It was a great day with lots of friends & relatives around. Mr Lav took 100 pictures!

Dill, a bull's eye? Now that's impressive, good for you

Sooty, glad to hear you're making progress!

Pnut, sounds like your race was quite a workout. And I have to agreee about the CPR instruction - always a good thing. Looks like we are going to be stuck in a hot, humid weather pattern with late afternoon thunder storms most of the coming week. What can you do? PS, I'm glad your son dropped the white body suit thing - now that's just hysterical

Had a great day, now I'm heading off to bed, exhausted.
                              Have a great evening!

                                Hi, Jammers!

                                I wonder where everyone is?

Lav, I've been thinking about August and have an idea. I think we should break the Monthly thread into weeks like "August, week 1-7" We would start a new thread each week that way. For many, a week may be a more managable goal. What do you think, guys?

                                Names: AF August (my favorite)
                                August Abstinence
                                August AL-free or
                                August All Stars

                                Any other Ideas out there?

And Pnut, I forgot to comment on your son's body suit which I though was a hoot! Funny boy! How old is he now, and does he remember wanting to do that?

Lav, it seems kind of cruel to pour water on a sleeping babe's head!:H

                                Sooty, how's it going?
