Modding doesn't seem to be possible for me. I've tried it, shall we say, several times. It usually ends in disaster. And, ronnie, I too have come to a point where I don't even really enjoy drinking any more. The first drink is OK, but just kind of makes me 'worthless'. I can't focus and I just want to withdraw. The first drink just makes me want a second drink. Then I feel even more worthless, lackluster and compelled to do one thing: drink more. How can that be descrbed as 'enjoyable'? I don't think I can "enjoy a glass of wine" anymore.

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

Hi Ronnie:
Thanks for the Welcome and in answer to your question about abstain or mod...it's abstain for me. Mod never worked and I'm sick of the see saw if you know what I mean.
Take care! When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.

Greenhouse! Great job on day 3!:goodjob:
Well, it's a beautiful evening here in Ohio, and I can tell you that because I am AF and completely aware of my surroundings! Not feeling fuzzy or withdrawn or buzzy and not angling at how to get my next drink! Enjoying my freedom from the bottle!
I still haven't made it to the new Potter movie. I will give a review when I do go!Dill

Hi Jammers!
I wrote a nice post to you all earlier today and got called out of my office and when I returned, the site was down and I lost it. Harrumph!!!
So just a quick hello to say great going to everybody. Myself - having AF days then wine days. My birthday was yesterday, so my middle child (she came from Calgary to visit for the week) and me went strawberry picking and had a great day together. It was so nice to have her here, as my son is away for the weekend, my oldest now gone and BF at work - I would have been so lonely!!! She made me Tiramisu for my b-day cake. Holy Decadence!!!
To mod or abstain. Hmmm.... I must admit, I am totally useless at modding. Either I drink or I don't, none of this just one glass thing. So I think after my big race in two weeks, and several visits and trips, I am going to buckle down and go AF with no thought of modding. It won't be easy, but it is the only way I think. The yeast in my body has to go and the only way is to cut out sugar and all fermented products - it takes several months to get rid of it, but I have to try something - so sick of these itchies and hives!!! I want to be yeast-free by Christmas. And that means, NO WINE!
So everybody have a great friday night and weekend and I hope we all meet our goals. I am running like a fool for the next few days, sister visiting, practices for Dragon Boat racing, hill training, etc. Oh, and I guess I should do some house cleaning????? (Never!!!!!)

Morning Jammers,
You sure sound cheerful, Ronnie. It's great to hear and so infectious!! I've done both abs and mods. If I drank very little and very seldom, that did work ok. But since I'm an emotional drinker, there was always the lure of escaping some stress or other and having AL around meant risking binges. It's like holding a lighter when you know there's gas trapped underground that could erupt any minute. I feel much safer, calmer and more together AF. Whatever the stresses, they don't take on the disproportionate dimensions they used to with AL. I have completely changed my habits around social drinking and must say I no longer miss my old ways. This is much more restful.
OK, enough. The sun's just come out which means I need to brave the crowds and hit the summer sales. I haven't had to exercise any gardening skills (or lack thereof) at my friends' house so far as all we've had are thunderstorms. (And no, alas there's no pool, Ronnie).
Thanks for the article, Lav, I need continued motivation with weight loss...
Good going Nora and Greenhouse, it will get easier with each passing day.
Peanut, you sound like you have so much energy! Please bottle some and send it across the pond!
Happy weekend everybody.

Good morning Jammers,
It's a beautiful day here, had showers overnight. I'm resisting the urge to go play outside today - not ready to face anymore PI. My grandson's Christening is next weekend and I don't want to be covered with a nasty rash!! I have plenty of indoor projects to keep me busy for a week
Greenhouse and NoraC, glad to hear you both are doing so well. The AF days will pile up quickly, stick with it.
Pnut, hope you had a very happy birthday! I envy your running abilities, I have never been a runner, even as a youngster. Such great exercise, good for you
Ronnie, Dill and Pamina - I think we've been at this long enough now that we positively know that AF is the only choice for us!!!!! Looking back, I think the 'changing your thinking' is the hardest and most important part of this process. I feel as if there is no battle going on for me anymore. The decision has been made, there's just no question anymore and I love that
Hav a wonderful weekend everybody!AF since 03/26/09

Hi Jammers it's me My New Beginning (formerly greenhouse1).....I screwed up and had 2 beers last night at a concert. I'm not beating myself up over it...it was only 2, could have been more but I controlled myself. So, I'm back to day 1 now ...planning on fininshing up this month AF. By the way the concert was awesome! Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp...great group of 'well aged' musicians. Best to everyone and lets have an alcohol free July!!!When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.

Hi, My New! (greenhouse1) No, don't beat yourself up over 2 beers! Just dust off and get back on board! Here's a hand......
Awesome about the concert! I am a huge Dylan fan and a moderate Willie fan. John Mellancamp is great, too!
I haven't anything exciting to report. Just a nice day in Ohio. Pleasant as all get out! Gonna go watch a movie now. Whatever Mr. D got from Netflix. Hope you all have a great evening!Dill

Happy Sunday everyone! It's going to be a sunny day here in New England after some rain yesterday. Up bright and early (6:30 a.m.) and feeling great! A few chores to do this morning..like wash and then to enjoy the sunshine outside later. It's a wonderful thing not being hungover!!!When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.
