    July Jamboree

    Hi Everyone
How are we all doing on this lovely Saturday Morning???
Dill wow them girls sure do know how to move, while I was watching that a really funny thought ran through my mind, could you imaging doing ANY of them moves with a drink inside you, you can image what a state we would all get into:H

The moods that we all go through will pass, each day we go on a different journey, we just have to learn to ride them out, someone said to me to think of these journeys as waves, they start off small then get bigger & bigger but its not long until they get small again and disappear.

There is also alot of herbal meds. out there that can help you get through the difficult times, I am going to start taking vit. B again as I find it really helps me with stress as I am on Day 4 now and I feel great, but I am finding that I fly off the handle at the least of things.
Well I hope everyone has a great Saturday & lets keep our chins up!!!

Good morning all you July Jammers! Yep, yesterday was AF here, too.

Ronnie, Yes those moods will come and go. You are right. I like the wave analogy. It's important to remember that those times will pass and that it's worth it in the end to ride them out. I am taking B vits and also L-glut and GABA. I find they do help. About the Youtube: could you beilieve that girl bent over backwards like that and picked up that apple with her teeth?

Lav, Thank you for the quote re: Independence/Interdependence. It's true, that no man is an island. I wouldn't be having the success I have been having on this journey if not for the help of my friends here sharing the struggle. You have been a particular help to me, as a matter of fact. Yet, we do achieve our goals through our own actions in the end. It is up to each individual. I guess we need both independence/interdependence to succeed, eh?

Opal, thanks for sharing your strength yesterday! I did
make it and yesterday was much easier. Here's to today!

Sooty, weekends are a challenge, for sure! I guess it's a mental association, and the knowledge that other folks that don't drink through the week ARE probably enjoying some alc on the weekend. But, honestly, it's been a long time since I've "enjoyed" alc like a normal person. For me, it's all about chasing and keeping the 'buzz'. Usually until I fall into bed and crash! In the meantime, trying to 'act normal'; not slurring words, walking normal, hoping your comments are making sense, etc. It all takes so much energy.

OK, here is a quote I shared on the Daily AF thread yesterday:

Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.

      Carl Sandburg

Be careful, lest you let alcohol
      spend it for you!

      Keep strong!
      Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Good morning everyone and Happy 4th of July!!!

Waking up to a sunny pleasant day here. Looking forward to firing up the grill later and enjoying the day with my daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law and grandson. My son is on duty in DC today (he's a firefighter/paramedic).

My mood was also just a bit iffy the past few days but has stabilized now - must have been a lunar thing. I really depend on my herbal supplement Amoryn, keeps me in good form
Hang in there Ronnie on day 4, that's great, it will get easier, I promise.

Can't wait to see how my first sober 4th of July in many years turns out!!
Wishing you all a wonderful AF day!

            Good Morning My July Friends,

            Great quotes and good progress.

We have a big family do on 4th of July at my house. Grandchildren running around and lots of fireworks. (Not necessarily a good combo but parents tend to keep the little ones close.)

It will be fun to be sober and actually experience this whole day with my family.

Hope all to come have a wonderful day, too!

            Love,

                Good morning July Jammers,

Am I really the first one up? My sober 4th of July turned out great, exhausting but great Hope your's did too!

We live in a rural area, lots of farms around us. Turns out 2 of our farmer neighbors are quite talented in putting on fireworks shows. All we need to do is sit in our comfortable & safe backyard and enjoy the show. It was fantastic, didn't even have to fight off any mosquitos (where did they go??). My 7 month old grandson was a bit unsure at first but he ended up watching right along with us
Looking forward to a somewhat quieter day today.

I'm grateful for the pleasant time spent with my family and grateful that I can finally get a regular pair of shoes on again, ha ha. My injured foot has much improved, ahhhh, what a relief

Wishing you all peace, happiness and a good rest of the weekend!

Well, it's been busy here today for a Sunday, so I am getting a late check in. I'm afraid I didn't do as well as you all yesterday. The holiday festivities got the better of me. I am OK and hangover free, but I did cave yesterday. I'm back on the wagon today and plan to stay!

Keep strong friends. Don't let your guard down like I did. I can guarantee you'll regret it.

                      Hi Ronnie, Opal & Dill,

Thought I'd check in one more time before officially calling the weekend over. Mr Lav & I are both tired......... entertaining the family is fun but tiring.

Dill, I have a feeling you didn't do all that bad yesterday! Don't be too hard on yourself. I think we're all pretty strong here - I know for sure we're determined

Time to call it a day, have a good evening one & all.

Thanks, Lav! I have come a long way since last summer at this time. I am forgiving myself for yesterday and moving forward. I thought this morning, "I will be sober this evening, and will enjoy my time because of it. Maybe I'll have a few uncomfortable moments this afternoon getting there, but they will pass." NO WAY could I have looked at things that way last summer! I was hopelessly progressing in my drinking.

Tonight we're going to watch part 3 of the John Adams HBO special. (rented from Netflix) We watched parts 1&2 last night. I highly recommend this series!! It's very well done.

Hope you and Mr. Lav get caught up on your rest! I know what you mean about the entertaining taking it out of you. But it is SO worth it!

Yesturday I had a great day although my little legs are aching like mad now but its all worth it.
The kids ,dog & me went on a 2 mile walk, although the kids tooks thier bikes, all along the coastal foot/bike path and the weather was lovely then we went to a park and it was so nice to see the kids enjoying themselves.
Then we we came back they all helped me put everything back in my new kitchen cuboards
My hubby has been putting in a new kitchen and at long last it is nearly finished, which means that I have'nt got to search all over my house for a casserole dish anymore:H
Well this is day 6 for me today and its the start of the school hols for 2 weeks and its lovely having sleep in's and not rushing around trying to get the kids organised.
So I am having a nice lazy morning then I will potter about with a tiny bit of housework
I hope you all have a great Monday.
Is it a holiday in the US?

I have been running so much lately that my knees are hurting somewhat - but a gal can't let that stop her ! My girl leaves tomorrow, off to Montreal. I'll miss her dreadfully, but life goes on for our kids, right?

                              Good morning, Jammers!

Opal, good job getting to day 6. Tomorrow will be a week. Won't that feel great to say?!:goodjob:

Ronnie, your day yesterday sounds like a little bit of heaven! And I know how it feels to get your kitchen back! We remodelled 3 years ago and I was 8 weeks without a kitchen! Felt like I was camping all summer!:H

Pnut, I am so glad you checked in! Your daughter is moving to Montreal? Is it for school or job? How far is it from you? I remember when my daughter left home for college. I cried off and on for nearly a week.:l Trying to be af in the summertime is proving to be a challenge for me, as well. Lots of old habits and associations with alc over these long years. It's hard to break old habits, that's for sure. What's that saying? "Old habits die hard."

Hi Lav and Sooty. How are you doing?

Here's a repeat of a quote I posted in June from the Daily Recovery Readings website. I needed to remember this:

...we have to reeducate our minds. We have to learn to
think differently. We have to take a long view of drinking
instead of a short view. We have to look through the glass
to what lies beyond it. We have to look through the night
before to the morning after...look through the bottle
to the better life that lies ahead.
                              Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.
