    July Jamboree

    Morning Jammers,

I'm here, just slow getting started after all the excitement here yesterday.

Dill, I like the sound of August All Stars. Breaking the month up into weeks probably would seem less threatening to most folks.........I'm cool with that!
The baby recovered his composure quickly after being startled awake with the holy water yesterday.......it was one of those moments that bring a tear to your eye, you know
I am most grateful to have witnessed the Baptism in my new found state of grace.

Hope everyone has a wonderful AF Monday in store for them!
    AF since 03/26/09
    NF since 05/19/09
Success comes one day at a time

I like August All Stars too - sounds really upbeat. Having trouble jamming through to the end of july and feeling bit fed up with myself today. But am glad I'm still here and still trying - it gets hard sometimes though doesn't it? And last night was just too much.
Still today is another day even if its freezing cold and blowing a gale - July in the UK might as well be November!
I also really like idea of weekly components Dill, that's a really good plan. Good thinking Batman.
Talk later, hope everyone has a good day

Hi everyone. Glad you're feeling better, Opal. Shitty moods are the pits. Lav, that's very sweet about the state of grace, both for you and your grandson. Dill, LOL! Teach that husband of yours to knit. I can just picture the two of you on cold winter evenings.... Oh, and I like the All Stars as well. Peanut, I'm trying very hard to turn my brain in an exercise friendly direction. Your races are such an inspiration! Yeah, Sooty, it's November alright. I've decided to look on the bright side and catch however many minutes of rays we get today. Speaking of catches, it's time to call a halt to my new found shopping addiction. I've certainly done my bit for the economy. My wardrobe now has a few streaks of colour amid a sea of dark and grey. I've been an overweight pumpkin for 5 years with no interest in clothes other than black tents you can hide in. Yesterday I took a new sky blue top for a 'test drive' to see if I can now bear to 'be seen'. It was quite nice, really. Happy Tuesday all.

            Good morning/afternoon Jammers!

darkie, awesome that you're "still sober"! Have you any tricks to share with us? I try keeping busy. My Ipod is a great help and is one of my tools. I have found that I can download audio books on it from our local library and I can listen to books.

Sooty, yes it is hard and it is good that you are here. Never give up! It's a major life change and a long-staning habit. It took time to get where we are and takes time to "undo".

Opal, good to see you. Sorry you were down for the past couple of days. Been there! Yesterday I felt myself going in that direction so I sat outside in the sun for awhile to soak up the mood lifting rays. I really think it helped!

Lav, it looks like "August All-Stars Week ___" is the winner. The first week in August starts on a Saturday, so the first week will go 8 days. How's the Pennsylvania weather? It was perfect here yesterday with good temps, sun and breeze. It feels like the humidity is rising today, though. Did I mention that my son is moving back to Ohio with his wife and son? I will have lots of g-son time!!!

Strength to all today, especially those who are wavering!:h

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Hi, Pamina! Cross-posted! I am so happy you are getting trim! I've had the opposite lately and I think it's because without al, I have been tending to eat more. Plus, it is corn season here in Ohio, and we are picking fresh sweet corn from the garden and eating it everyday! I'm "corn-fed"!:H I'm gonna have to make some dietary changes though, for sure.

                Hi Jammers,

Greetings from overcast, hot & humid PA! Looks like we're stuck in this weather pattern for the rest of the week. The nightly thunder storms are a real charm

Hi Sooty & Darkie, glad to see you hanging in with us.

Opal, moods happen!! Thank God they improve...........eventually!

Pamina, congrats on shaping up - good for you. I've been fiddling around with Weight Watchers the past few week. I lost 2 lbs. the first week, gained them back the second week, lost 1 the third week. In other words, I'm getting nowhere. I will get serious about this at some point.............

Dill, looks like August All Stars is the winner........great, love it
Watch your corn intake - we'll both be on Weight Watchers, ha ha. Fresh corn really is sooooooo good! I've been overfeeding myself the past few months since I gave up smoking. I need to get a grip soon because I refuse to buy bigger clothes!

Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

Sooty, don't be too hard on yourself! You're doing better than you think. The important thing is to never give up!

Opal, you should have come too! You and Lav could've had a MWO meet up!

Yep, its just 3 more days! We can do it!

I started back to work yesterday. It cuts into my MWO time seriously! :HBut, I am ready to be back. It was nice to see my co-workers and get caught up. They're a nice bunch. One of them is struggling with alc. I talk with her about it when we are alone. I even offered to go to an AA meeting with her if she wanted. She said yes at first, then begged off.

Hope everyone has a great af day! I will.

                      Morning Jammers,

So close to the end of the month, sure went fast for me!

Sooty, glad you keep coming back to us, just keep trying. I really think success is all about attitude. I know when I started I was undeniably determined to be AF. I wasn't about to let anything or anyone get in my way. Muster up the attitude friend

Opal, I'm sure your sisters will be happy to get out of this humidity hell! I've lived here all my life, you'd think I would get used to it at some point but no...........it's just yucky! I'm seriously tired of the sweating, the frizzy hair, etc. My absolute favorite time of the year is Fall with the cool, dry mornings, can't wait

No big plans for me today on this Humpday!! I will sneak out to the garden to harvest whatever veggies are ready, probably some peppers and tomatoes!

Hi to everyone that checks in, have a great AF day!

Hi peeps - thought I'd check in cuz I miss you guys!!!!!

Doing ok here - only 3 more sleeps till the big day. And yesterday, I woke with a sore throat and started popping vit c and ColdFX. I CAN"T GET SICK!!!!!!! Even if it just holds off until saturday night when I've finished my leg of the race, i don't care!!!!! I've suddenly found myself praying alot lately, although I am by no means a religious type - praying to whoever and whatever can hear me!!!

August All-Stars sounds good. I think I will go to see my homeopath too and get back in order - maybe do the acupuncture I've been meaning to try out.

Dill - corn-fed, eh? Up around where I live, there is no local corn. I don't think the growing season is long enough!! Such a drag. Can get it at the grocery store imported, but there's nothing like getting off the back of a truck by the highway.

Lav - the humidity sucks, unless you live in a place completely devoid of it!! I grew up in a more humid city (where one can get local corn too!!!) and when I moved here, when people would complain about the humidity in the summer times, I could only just give them a blank stare!! This is NOT humid. And, in the winter?? I'm talking 13-14% humidity - my skin is cracking just thinking about it. But I do agree - living in that hot, muggy air is not easy. Never feel dry at all!

Sooty - hang in there. I know how you feel, as I've not been quite angelic on the AF train this month. Let's give August an honest effort, ok?

Opal - hope your sisters are enjoying there visit, but I'm sure they will be glad to get out of the sauna!!

OK - off to get a coffee. Might drop in later, but if not, have a great weekend everybody. I'm off to Grand Cache in the morning. Wish me luck????
                          xoxo peanut

Hi gang, thanks for kind words - I'm harnessing my attitude as I type - Lav you are so right. Normally I can be quite a tough old bird and I hate being out of control. So back to the battle! Note I said battle not bottle.
Good luck for Grand Cache Pnut whatever that is? we will definitely make an honest effort for August - I like the sound of that honest effort - no point in being anything other really is there?
Feeling determined and strong again, thanks to all for support

hi all, trying to find my way round still.the most reason im still sober is the great lovr from my family, even though they dont know the full extent of my addition(i was sober for seven years )a few months ago i deecided i could handle drink, but alas not so .(i dont know if anyond here read any of my posts.but three weeks ago i drovr while drinking, and my youngest son 18 n the car .the shame and danger of that, along with the shock from my son and horror and hurt and just taking his peace of mind away from him.has helped me thus far to stay away from drink, not as easy as it sounds.but felps me to stay with the feelings of that day (i could have killed one of the most beautiful people in the world(my son)alond with baby others,we were lucky that day .and i pray to god as often as i think of a drink to help me to let the moment pass ,,sorry about been long wended,
