I have only been sober for just about a week but I can tell you that i am sitting here thinking about the last 2 4th of July's It has been along time since I have woken up on 4th of July morning not hungover, wishing for a drink or ovecomeing some hurrendous thing where i embarrassed myself and my family. Well today is that day.
Last night my kids and I drove around looking for fireworks, we went to the dollar store and bought glow sticks and balloons and got ice cream. 6 months ago my kids wouldnt get in the car with me in the morning...forget driving at night when i could have started drinking during the day. Last night that wasnt a problem.
I just checked in on them and they were both sleeping so peacefully. Noone is wetting the bed or having nightmares at night. They arent embarrassed of me anymore. Frankly i have done anything embarrassing since 12/08.
Now i sit here not facing any charges, thinking about running a marrathon relay race in December (I actually ran yesterday), and earning back the respect i use to have with my friends and family.
I just wanted to give everyone a peek into my life. This is also to remind myself of the things i have gained back in such a short time and what i can lose.
