    Hi All
I have never posted anything on any forums before so you may have to bear with me if my etiquette isn?t up to scratch and I am posting things in the wrong places. I have just read a few pages of posts and I am genuinley surprised to find a number of people with the same or very similar experiences to mine. I have admitted that I drink too much many a time but I have never openly said it is time to do something about it, although I have thought about it. Liath and Kimberley amongst many others have inspired me to join up today and post this, my first post, and to give up drinking today. Let's see how it goes.
PS anyone want a bit of background on how I ended up here - if so do I post it here?:new:

Hello Donkey a big welcome to you. I am glad you decided to post, have you downloaded the MWO book? I would suggest you do that first and read it through, it will give you an idea of what you want to do next. It is fine to post here there is no strict etiquette just find a place where you feel comfortable. People will welcome you where ever you post and you will receive non judgemental support help and advise. Well done on taking the first step.
You can tell us as much or as little of your background as you feel comforable with.
    Keep safe

            Hi Donkey,

Welcome to MWO! You will find lots of support & encouragement here.
After you've read the book you need to sit down & make a good plan for yourself. There's no one way to do this. We're all a little different and have different learning methods. Please continue to read & post a lot.

Welcome again and wishing you the best.

                Donkey-

Welcome. Thats great to hear that you have been inspired to join us. I would love to hear your story. I honestly don't know what I would do without the advise/distraction/support I get reading/posting on this forum. Feel free to join us on the "starting over" thread-- we are in it for the long haul. For me, its a matter of not letting AL control my life anymore. I think that is the common goal here and many of us are at different stages of the journey. 2 short weeks ago, I was on a 2 day bender and feeling like I wanted to crawl into a hole and die. It gets better, so much better once you get a handle on the problem! And truely, this is a GREAT place to start. Take care.

Welcome Donkey - this is a great place to be. On another thread someone posted.." I'm not a sheep anymore" that's my motto for today. I could go and buy alcohol like millions of others and drink it - but I'm not a sheep anymore.
                      Good luck.

Or a lemming! What was it that Mom used to say, "Just because your friends jump off a cliff, does that mean that you have to jump off it too?"

Welcome, Donkey! :welcome: Great to have you here!

oh Lil, my mom also used to say that. Or the other version - just because someone jumps into the fire does not mean you have to as well
