Just a quick hello and good luck to all those who are trying...I must now stop drinking with no excuses this time. I am of course a bit nervous, but excited as well to end this nightmare. Thanks for all the posts out there. They are very inspirational and provide the extra support needed.

Need to stop
First, I plan to stay tuned to these threads. I've been reading them for some time and decided now is my time. I also plan to document my success in the drink tracker. I recently started excercising and my cravings have diminished quite a bit. We'll see how this goes and make changes as necessary. Thanks for the note!AF since July 8, 2009...

Welcome, National :welcome:
You've definitely come to the right place! As Starts said, you need a plan to get you started!
If, at any time, you feel you're wavering or you're mentally in a bad place, post your own threads - you'll get lots of support here.
TipI'll do whatever it takes

Need to stop
Hi National,
Welcome. It's such a crucial first step to realize it's time to stop. Good plan to use the drink tracker too. I look forward to hearing more on how you are doing.Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts.

Tulipes right, we help each other through. Getting sober isnt easy at all. BUT its so very worth it. We are living proof of that, we can laugh, support and inspire and still be sober. Sometimes its hard to imagine there is a life once we are sober, but there is.Living now and not just existing since 9th July 2008

My goal is very slim moderation. I want to be able to have one and only one glass of wine with dinner or two and only two drinks at a party. I used to have some control, but in the last few months haven't been able to stop. Something just tilted it over into undeniable alcoholism (before I had "deniable alcoholism" :H). I've been thus far: Sat - AF; Sun - bad; Mon - AF; Tues - ONE!; today - ??
My goal right now is at least two days a week AF, the others no more than two. That's max10 drinks a week - still more than the medically safe limit for women (which is 7), but much, much better (incomparable actually) to where I was. My hope is that I will reverse the tolerance I've built up and also get into a lifestyle that does other things in the evening than drink.
If it doesn't work, I'll have to go AF. The way things are now is unacceptable.
You're going AF today? My very, very best. It feels good - I was euphoric Monday evening when I realized I'd made it! Let's keep in touch... Let me know tomorrow.

I am starting today and I'll let you know how it goes! Thanks for the support. Good luck with your mod! I tried that, but it always ended up the wrong way. I truly hope it works for you as I see many on this site are quiet successful.AF since July 8, 2009...
