    advice pls

Hi all, Long time visitor, seldom poster in recent times, mainly because my al addiction has got worse in the last yr.

Have just completed 6 days AF , and it has been soooooo difficult.

    Does it get easier ?

Really desperate to abstain, was so close to caving last night, but have woke up this morning happy I didnt.

Have just completed Allen Carrs book hoping I could start off my abstination in a happy, positive frame but am finding it more difficult than I expected.

Have abstained twice before in the last 20 yrs.
7 wks last yr , and 4 wks the yr before. And found it easier in those times.
I am guessing its because my addiction has got worse.

Desperate to kick it this time.

Hope to write "my story" in a while just to be honest with myself and everyone here and write down my problems with al.

Many thanks for listening and advice would be appreciated.

    Hi Damo,
6 days AF. Did you do it all by yourself or with help from your Doc.
You're heading in the right direction.
No advice at the mo. just to let you know that you'll be supported all the way to what I like to call FREEDOM.
    Hugs.

hi damo, good question,is it easier, ive been doing this for ten years off and on,personally i dont think it gets easier,i beleive every time one goes back to drinking, its like falling in quick sand, eventually you get sucked in to no return, read the threads, the struggles, not only the person with the addiction, the ones they have to live with, who mt be addicted to,is there a light at the end of the tunnel,i beleive there is,drinking AL,wont add to the light, read the thread one to many has a year today,i would suggest to read some of this young ladies struggles, and her accomplishments, not just hers ,there are many people in the army thread that struggle from day today, theres an old saying, what i couldnt do,we can i wish you well gyco

Hang in there Damo! Well done on 6 day's. Keep going! For me, it does get easier, but the early day's are hard, as you know. If you really want this, you've got to work for it. Keep reading here, and posting. You really can do this, and it will get easier for you. What about trying for 30 days af first off? There are a couple of 30 day threads here you could join for support? Go for it! and don't turn back.

          Best wishes on your journey.......
