    September to Remember - Week 3

    Evening everyone,

    I'm getting good vibes from everyone here today - regardless of the weather. I can't believe it's totally dark out and only 7:30 pm. My chickens are a little mad that I'm chasing them back in their coop earlier!
    Egg production has been up this week since the cooler temps moved in. Guess I should considering installing central AC for them next summer, ha ha!

      September to Remember - Week 3

      Hello STR friends,

      I am starting the day "quotelss", but not totally speechless! I read the Daily Readings this morning and found lots of good food for thought, but nothing that I thought would be a good kickstart quote for the day. We're on our own. So, Here's my thought for the day:

      Keep smiling no matter what.

      Anybody else want to throw in?! Any old random thought or idea will do!

        Hi all - confession time. I had two glasses of wine on Wednesday. Didn't enjoy it, didn't want more, so negative and positive? Think it was anticipatory stress for impending THREE WEEK visit from MIL.

            Good morning September friends,

            How's everyone?
            I just realized that this weekend will be the last weekend of summer! I suppose we should all do something special...............I'll have to think about that

            Dill, I'm smiling outwardly, I really am. For some reason my resentment level has been fairly high all week so I'm struggling inwardly. No wonder my B/P still runs a little high! Think I'll spend some extra time reading on The To Do Institute website, it helps

            Bets, brush off! If my MIL was coming for a 3 week visit I'd be drinking arsenic.........no kidding! I am sending you strength & all the 'Lavan-ittude' I can muster up, ha ha.

                September to Remember - Week 3

                The quote seems rather like the one from Thich Nhat Hahn, ?Sometimes your joy is the source of your smile, but sometimes your smile can be the source of your joy?. Even if you are still edgy inside, you have an increased probability of softening.

                Easy day for me. I just carved out a new portion of flower bed and seeded a new little patch of lawn that will edge it, and later I shall make a second batch of pesto for the freezer. My big old shelter dog went to the vet and got high marks on his dental exam (good boy!), and the recent rain has made this desert oasis look like the Emerald City. There are beautiful eggplants, peppers, and tomatoes all over the kitchen, and I get to start what appears to be a very good book this afternoon rather than be hunched over a keyboard pulling words out of a hole in my brain. The simple life is good.

                Big smile here and I am making it start on the inside. Don?t know the origin of this quote, Dill, but how about ?a smile is the light in the window of your face that tells people you're at home?.

                  LBH, That is a lovely quote, no matter what the source. It's really quite true. Even if you are forcing your smile, it shows that you are home, but doing some chores!!:H The flower bed sounds quite nice. I hope to get some energy going coinciding with some nice weather and some free time. If that happens, I will plant some spring bulbs by the entryway. That's always good for a smile.

                        Welcome to DO25!! Three weeks is just fabulous - you are well on your way.
                        And hello to my September buddies. Aren't glad it's friday????????

                        I'm contemplating trying out Baclofen, but am soooo unsure. I've been reading the threads about it, but still - it is all very unclear. Obviously, I am struggling with this still,a day AF here and there but not what I want nor what my body needs!!! Any thoughts?

                        Gotta take my dog out for a walk. I haven't said "the word" yet (he even knows how to spell w-a-l-k and r-u-n, among other words!), but as soon as I do, or even reach toward the closet to get the L-E-A-S-H, I will have to be ready to go, as he will go bananas!!!

                        Keep smiling everybody. Take advantage of the beautiful weather - and if it's not so great where you are, stay warm and dry!! (It hit +30C here yesterday - the strangest weather ever this year!!!)

                          Dill, I started out the day with no real plans but ended up kind of busy anyway. Made the day go fast and also made me stop resenting certain things and certain people..............That's the key for me, staying busy, busy busy

                            Hi gang,

                            Real bad connection. Just out side the Rocky Mantion National Park.

                            Dill-I was going through a really bad time once. I was smiling and laughing about something. My Mom asked me how I could laugh with all the bad times going on. I told her I had to laugh other wise I would cry. Sometimes a smile is the only protection I have.

                              September to Remember - Week 3

                              Good morning September friends,

                              We have a bright & sunny day on board today, temps in the mid 70's - sounds perfect

                              Lil, you must be getting tired! Hope you are enjoyin your trip

                              Pnut, sorry that you are still struggling. I'm not the one to ask about taking any of these meds, I haven't taken any. As a retired nurse I am just too full of opinions to shed any positive light on using some of them. I worry too much about possible side effects, etc. especially when some of these meds are used off label (such as Baclofen). It's an old drug (developed back in the 40's I believe) to treat muscle spasticity in patients with MS, spinal cords injuries, etc. The fact that some doctor in Italy accidently discovered that it helped him stop wanting to drink really doesn't convince me of it's efficacy or safety.
                              I really heavily depended on the Hypno CDs to help me change my thinking about drinking. Finally accepting the fact that I cannot drink because I have too much to lose really sealed the deal for me.
                              I will be celebrating 6 months AF in just a few more days - I couldn't be happier with myself. I did what I had to do, what was best for me!

                              Anyway, I wish everyone a great AF Saturday, hope your weather is as good as mine

                                I'm checking in a bit late this morning. I got out early to do errands so I could beat the Saturday morning rush at the grocery store. It's another beautiful day here and I'm going to put groceries away and go for a walk in the late summer sunshine.

                                Pnut, I don't know. I think baclofan is safe. I have been considering trying it myself to be honest. But I'm not sure I need it. I have less and less difficulty being AF, but I still have occasional lapses. I think my beast can be beaten if I just keep at it. You sound like you are having a harder time stringing AF days together. I say do whatever it takes! Try the bac if you think it will help. Would you be able to talk it over with your doctor?

                                Lav, I believe my weather IS as good as yours! Once again, may I say, that you are truly an inspiration to me. I like hanging around with you so that "Lavanitude" can rub off on me!:H What is your 6 month anniversary date?

                                Lil, my travelling friend! I love it when you pop in! I could relate to your story. I think it's wonderful when we are able to laugh in the face of sorrow. To be honest, I haven't been laughing much lately. I know I need to. A couple of days ago I heard myself laugh at something and realized it had been a really long time since I had felt light hearted enough to laugh. My laugh is coming back!!!
